Question from Cali about Marist?

Hey just wondering how Marist's squad is looking this year. Wrestled there what seems like ages ago. I try to keep up with them and how they do from year to year. This site really helps.
If anyone knows what to expect from them I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I think they will have a down year unless of course they have a lot of freshmen I don't know about. Otherwise I think they only return 2 state qualifiers. The ESCC conference will possible be the toughest one they have had in what 28 years.

The Marist guy with first hand knowledge on this site is Joe Predicto. You might want to send him a pmail to get specific results.

I do agree with Scooby's Mom that Marist will face a strong challenge from Marian Catholic for the conference title. Still Coach Gervais is a miracle worker when it comes to the ESCC and getting his team ready.

Thanks Twist

Yes,
I do know a little bit about the Redhawks as I had my 3 sons wrestle
for them in the past 10 years, and as Scoob's mom said, I agree, they
will not be the "stone cold lock" for the conference, as dem Spartans
from Marian have a very formidable lineup, and should be a very tough dual
for anyone they wrestle. But we will see, things can happen, injuries,
kids doing silly things, and getting suspended, etc......
Carmel/Mundelein should have a decent club also....

Joe

Welcome back JP...I know it is close to the season when I see you log on. It is kinda nice to see Marist challenged this year, you got to admit. No one want's a cakewalk every year.

Thanks!
Hey Joe who were your sons. I may have wrestled with them.
I am sure Marist will do alright. Gervais is an amazing coach and always gets his guys to give it everything they've got.

The big difference between those two programs is that Gervais is a great coach who gets everything out of all his wrestlers, while mini mc just runs out and gets great(sometimes) wrestlers from other coaches.

I agree...one team is good every year and the other team is good every once in a while. The thing about Marist is they wrestle you tough top to bottom in their line up and they do it without "big name" superstars usually. That is a testament to their coaching.

marian is a kinda new (and young) staff so the jury is still out on them. This will be a big year for marian in terms of new faces in the lineup and the second year of the current coaching staff being in place.

Carmel of Mundelein should be tough, Unrein and Williams are legit. I believe they had a freshman at 215 who looked good at the end of last year. If they beat L.T. at the Buffalo Grove tourny dont be surprised.
