Lets not jump the gun. He won a JC tournament.

Yes, but still...It's still a college tournament with college kids. He'll challenge for a title, just like Champ said.

I love Albert as much as anyone in the state...and I am happy he won this tournament...a win is a win...but I am reserving judgement until I see him at the Kaufman-Brand tournament at Nebraska on Nov. 17th where the top D1 guys will be in his bracket if he goes 20 and over and if he goes 20 and under that bracket will be much tougher than what he just won with many ranked or soon to be ranked kids in it.

So if you are 20, you can go up or down?

No I re read the rule last night which is mandated by the NCAA Open rules ...if you have less than 2 years college wrestling experience then you are in the Amature Division (use to be called 20 and under) and plus two years experience are in the Elite Division. So Albert will be in the Amature division with a lot of other Illinois wrestlers.

But he could still choose to wrestle in the Elite division if he chose to.

Exactly... I remember a couple of years ago when Metcalf wrestled the Elite division and Schlatter wrestled the 20-under. People were all up in arms because Schlatter was "running" from Metcalf and the tough competition. People wanted to know what J-Rob was thinking becuase "there was no way the Freshman could handle starting and a D1 schedule if he wasn't wililng to wrestle the Elite division at the Kaufman Brand Open." Those people sure did look silly when Schlatter ended up winning the NCAA title that year. LOL.

But back to topic... you are exactly right Tom, if Albert wants to wrestle the Elite division he can.
