Wouldn't turning team state into a 3 class system would give the IHSA more money?
There will be more ENTIRE TEAMS competing drawing a larger fan base. More parents and friends will be attending because the whole team is involved. Turning individual state into a one class system will be better for Illinois wrestling. It would let every one know who the real state champ is. The amount of fans at individual state would be the same or close to the same depending on how big the tournament will be. |

1A-87 schools 2A-142 schools 3A-178 schools This would be a joke. How can it be fair if all three classes have the same number of state qualifiers? They won't even need a Sectional Tournament for 1A...just four Regionals with 11 schools in each. There are three ways to fix this: (1) leave things the way they are now, 1A-113 schools, 2A-294 schools (2) Keep 1A the way it is now and split 2A in half, 2A-147 schools and 3A-147 schools. (3) Split all the "wrestling" schools evenly, 1A-136 schools, 2A-136 schools and 3A-135 schools. I know it is probably pointless but, how do we petition (or educate) the IHSA to make sure they know the best way to do this? |

Despite popular belief, the IHSA is not stupid. Dave Gannaway is a former wrestling coach, so he does know the sport. The IHSA will talk with the Wrestling Advisory Committee http://www.ihsa.org/org/advcomm/adv-wr.htm as well as the Regional Representatives about this. Fans have NO SAY in this so don't waste your time with a grass roots, 1960s hippy type campaign to save the sport of wrestling. What you can do is notify your head coach, Athletic Director, and most importantly your Principal with the facts and your concerns. They, in turn, can convey this to the IHSA. If enough SCHOOLS are against 3 classes for wrestling, the IHSA will listen. Unfortunately, the schools have not spoken out loud enough to deter the IHSA from moving forward with the 3 class plan. Only 54% of the schools chose to vote on the matter of which 69% believe 3 classes is the way to go. 3 classes, here we come!

Most of the people crying about the new proposal are Chicagoland people, not the other way around. And again, my son attends a large school that would be AAA under any system I've seen, so if anything, it's going to hurt him, as we would be the only AAA school within a 2 hour drive. |

You are willing to tell the best wrestlers in this State that's it's ok to be at home during the INDIVIDUAL state tournament. I am all for making the A class a better respectable tournament. But squeezing the new AAA class is even more absurd. I am willing to bet you haven't competed or even played a high school sport, it shows. I love how you use the word "crying" for current AA. YOU obviously don't want to see the better wrestlers at the individual state tournamet. |

3 classes = stiff city
Anyone in favor of this system needs to put their head down and run full speed into a brick wall.
This could very well be the worst thing for IL wrestling. It is flat out terrible.
