Yeah but where's he going? I'd rather be 2nd and get a full ride to a program like the University of Illinois than be 1st and wrestle for a less prestigious program. I have a feeling that Apland just didn't get the college looks that Walker got. Pat is much more accomplished over his 4 years than Apland, period.... which is why he'll be wearing a big "I" on his chest for the next 4 or 5 years.
If you are going talkabout state championships... Walker won 2 IKWF state championships, as well as 3 medals in IHSA. Come on, it won't matter in a few years.

He is getting a full ride Grill... there is no doubt about that one. I've know Pat for a long long time. Mark Johnson told Pat as a freshman that he'd be wrestling for the Illini, and he was right. It's a full ride my friend.

If you are asking about Pat Walker getting a full ride I can give you whatever guartantee you want. I have talked to Pat as well as Mark Johnson (the head coach of U of I). Pat is getting a full ride to the University of Illinois, and their plan is for Pat to be a 4 year starter after John Wise graduates after the 2008-2009 season.
I can't understand why there is so much dispute about this. How can it be that hard to believe? If you don't believe it, you'll look like a fool in a few weeks after the paperwork is complete.

It is amazing to me how much we, in the wrestling community, like to tear down our own. I really don't get it. Apland and Walker are the two best kids in the state at 215. They are both great wrestlers. They are both DI wrestlers. Apland was just a little better this last year. Apland also has been ranked in the top three in the country at that weight.
