Ohio Tournament of Champions - Registration
Tournament of Champions - Registration
Qualified wrestlers still have time to register for this year's TofC, scheduled for April 26, at the Columbus Convention Center. The tournament is expected to draw 2500+ wrestlers, representing 30+ states. Besides placing top three in a TofC qualifier, wrestlers may qualify by winning a non TofC qualifier, or by winning a certain number of matches during the current wrestling season. In addition all non Ohio high school wrestlers are exempt from having to otherwise qualify, as are middle school wrestlers that may have been born in 1993. To see a complete list of ways to qualify, you can go to: http://www.ohiotofc.com/tour/index.php A look at this year's past state high school championship finals reveals that 31 of Ohio's state champions this year, and 54 state finalists, were TofC veterans and in Pennsylvania, half of this year's state champs were TofC alums. In addition, four of this year's NCAA Champions were TofC veterans: Angel Escobedo (125), Coleman Scott (133), J. Jaggers (141) and Mike Pucillo (184). In addition, NCAA runner-ups and former Illinois prep stars Michael Poeta (157) and Eric Tannenbaum (165) also competed in the TofC in the past. Tannenbaum was a five time champions of the event (1998-2002), and Poeta a three time champ (2000-2002). Jaggers was a three time champ (1993, 1994, 1999), Scott a two time champion (1998, 2002) and Escobedo a one time champion (1997). |
