Tony was not alone...

I just saw who Steiber beat to win the tournament...Zach Sanders, Tyler Clark, Anthony Ramos, and David Thorn...wow...now that was impressive...no need for Ramos to feel bad...this guy took out some of the best in the country to win it all

Just look at who Tony has wrestled in the past 9 months. Start with the super 32 last fall. He has faced the best of the best in the nation. Yea he had a bad Ironman this past season but I wouldn't throw him under the woodshed just yet. BrooklynBrawler, do you know how tough it is everytime you step on the mat your opponet knows who you are and is trying to knock you off because you are one of the top guy's in the country? I am glad we get another season to watch Tony wrestle befo he goes off to college.

I think some people don't realize how brutally tough wrestling is at the top levels around the country. There is always someone waiting in the wings to take out the best, and it happens all the time. There aren't many wrestlers in any wieght tougher than Logan Steiper (if any at all) right now. But, that can change too. Does anyone remember the incredible year Zack Kemmerrer (PA) had his junior year? Beast champion, Ironman champion, PA State Champion. He had a comparatively tough senior year and is now paying his dues in college. You can't rest on past accomplishments; you have to keep pushing and always getting better because there are guys all over the contry doing the same thing. There are also going to be ups and downs over the long haul. I am sure that Tony Ramos will take it in stride, as all great wrestlers do, and he will be right back in there the next time he steps on the mat. Wrestling is a journey. The really good wrestlers are not afraid to wrestle the best and to risk losing in order to improve and get better on a regular basis.

The only thing wrong with Tony is he had the guts to step up and wrestle FILA Jr. There aren't any other kids his age from Illinios that took on such a challenge. Great tournament, keep pushing yourself Tony.

Something to think about too. Ironman 2008 is a long way away but, Tony Ramos, Logan Steiber and David Taylor could all be at the same weight. If not Tony, maybe Jimmy Chase.

The real wrestling starts once you become nationally ranked. Once that happens it is amazing how wrestlers you never heard of come at you real strong. Everyone is looking to make a name for themselves. Some wrestlers thrive on beating the famous or ranked wrestler. Tony Ramos is both!

And once you get to college everyone is someone. So Tony will adjust. He is too good not to. And he will get more losses to. It is just part of beig elite. It makes what guys like Cael Sanderson and Joe Williams did in their careers even more special. I remember how matter of fact my sons college coach was when he lost his first couple of matches. Mario was real down and I was too. He told Mario to get over it, that it happens and that he will lose a lot more matches on this level. Then he turned to me and said what is important is not that he lost but what he does after he loses. Think about that for a moment!

No doubt. There is nothing wrong with Tony. Cut the kid some slack. He isn't allowed to have an off day or just get out wrestled. Tony will be fine.
