January 15th weight allowance question

This Saturday the two pound growth allowance goes into effect across the state for those wrestlers who have made scratch weight at least once at their certified weight previous to January 15. However, if a team wrestles Thursday and Friday and then competes again on Saturday, does the weight allowance become cumulative (meaning: 4 lbs. - two for growth and two for comepting the two previous nights), or is it just the two pound allowance? I called Gannaway, but he is out of the office. Any help would be nice. Thank you.

You would get 4 lbs as long as teams wrestled Thursday and Friday and are competing on Saturday.

Batavia tournament is a 4lb allowance

Again you must of made scratch weight 1st.

growth allowance

Here we go again. The same thing happened last year.
“2004-05 Boys Wrestling Series terms and Conditions” page 11 clearly says
AFTER Jan 15th. Is there is a change again this year as was last year?

This came straight from the IHSA Web site:

"3. [The Advisory Committee] Approved a recommendation to provide for a two-pound weight allowance on January 15 to all wrestlers that have made their actual qualifying weight class one time. If a wrestler has not made the actual qualifying weight class, the wrestler must make scratch weight one time prior to gaining the growth allowance."

It looks as though it says "on" to me AND it came from the IHSA site.

ON Jan.15th not AFTER Jan. 15th.

The IHSA rules DO state that the 2lb. growth allowance goes into effect ON January 15th - which in this case is Saturday. The question was asked, "if a team wrestles Thursday and Friday and Saturday, do they get a 4lb allowance?"

THE ANSWER IS YES - 1 lb. Friday + 1 lb. Saturday + 2 lb. growth allowance = 4 pounds.

the rules

The 2004-2005 rule book says on page 4, section VII, article D :

"A two (2) pound weight
allowance will be given to all wrestlers after
January 15. Only wrestlers who have made
their scratch weight may receive the two (2)
pound allowance."
- was there an announcment that is different than this???

I believe that wrestlingfather1 is right. My info is obviously old and the page he pointed out is right on the IHSA site. Thanks for the clarification sir and sorry for the mix up. If Dave Gannaway tells me different tomorrow, I shall post it here. Thanks again!
