Central Illinois loses a legend

Former LeRoy High School coach Randy Bowman died peacefully in his sleep last night at his home.

Head Wrestling Coach at LeRoy 1964-67 and 1971-92. Between 67-71 he was at Mahomet and Rockford West.

He was Illinois Wesleyan University's football MVP and a Fiji All-American in 1961 as a noseguard.

He was a 1994 Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Hall of Fame Inductee.

Career Dual Meet Record: 407-89-5 (81% winning percentage)

Old timers in Central Illinois will surely remember Coach Bowman. What a wonderful man and coach who touched NUMEROUS lives.

Leroy had some really tough guys and some of the top teams in the history of the program under this man! Sorry to see that he has passed, and condolences to the Leroy community and wrestling program.
