Walkovers in Regionals??
I thought thought that all regionals did walkovers. I was just looking at the Juarez Regional and at 130 I noticed a kid took 3rd by beating a kid that he had lost to earlier in the 1st round. Is it up to each regional to decide if they want walkovers or is everyone suppossed to have them?

Walk-overs are mandated by the IHSA for all Regionals.

Someone should have told the people at Juarez that. the 130 from Uplift should have walked over the Gordon Tech kid if the brackets are right.

This is why I don't like walk-overs. settle it on the mat I say.

They did. The Uplift kid won the first time. It's been debated ad nauseum on these boards, but he should not have to beat a kid twice to advance while the other kid only has to win once. In this case, the kid who won the first time even had to wrestle more matches than the guy who lost the first one.
The follow the finalist rule is far more ridiculous. |

Can the Uplift coaches contact someone and protest? Are they even aware?

It happened 4 times
It happened at 112, 130, 160, 171 where it should have been walkovers. The 112 wrestler won while the other 3 lost the rematch.
I'm amazed that no coach caught it. |

once the officials sign off on the match and the regional results are submitted to the IHSA I believe there is nothing that can be done. I am unsure of this however. Too bad for these kids, I hate to see kids not make sectionals on account of a missed rule. Again though this is why I don't like walk overs. settle it on the mat

IHSA should definitely be contacted in this matter though. The ignorance of the head of that regional and the officials for that matter should not be a reason 3 wrestlers don't get to go to regionals. |
