The Great Debate (Poll Form)

The Great Debate

1, 2, or 3 Class System
Please Vote & Explain

I Voted one simply because it does not matter about the size of your school for the INDIVIDUAL Tournament, all that matters is that the best wrestlers in the state are in the bracket.

With a One class bracket I think there should be 12 Sectionals, with 3 Qualifiers from each one, 1st place wrestlers get the USUAL Bye and then we are off to find the BEST wrestler in the state

Although I would like 1 Class it wouldent be fair to small schools so i voted 2 classes ... 3 classes makes illinois weaker in my oppinion..

Yes, it may be unfair to some small school wrestlers but the best wrestlers are always going to drill harder, do the extra work, and beat the kids no matter how big or small their school. I disagree with the opinion that small schools have a disadvantage at individual state

I agree, the bigger schools get better competition week in and week out, some kids in smaller schools might only see a tough match once in a while. (I know there are exceptions to the rule)

If its one class it will help promote hard work because people will be forced to work harder and do more national tournys if they want to win state

Seperate Team and Individual

I would like one individual tourny and then the IHSA could have 20 team champs and I wouldn't care.

It never hurt Dan Gable when he grew up in a small town. Individuals that have the drive to be great will achieve their goals if they really want it.

Now for team there are clearly advantages for larger schools.

Bigger schools have better competition in their own wrestling room, they wrestle better competition night in and night out. You have to have at least 2 classes, and personally I still think we have to give 3 a chance.

That is complete and utter nonsense you can take a huge school not going to name names of school out of respect, and they are terrible, now I can take a single a school like Harvard or Stillman Valley and they have school enrollment of what less than 850? and they would smoke these big schools. If competition is the issue than it is the coaches and individuals problem to figure out how to better their practices. I.E. hard drilling, shark bait, go to an ISI, Overtime, & Izzy Style additional practices for competition. MSLHWYDAD it is up to the coaches and schools to schedule the competition if they want to make their indv. better that is up to them and that is what a 1 class system would create
