So is Stillman Valley, they beat Erie-Prophetstown 36-33. I didn't watch many of the matches because I was watching Newman but they had some big pins. I have to admit that the E-P fans that were posting on here that they were much improved were right. I didn't expect it to be very close.

Thanks for the post. I was wondering how E-P did. Sounds like they made more of a match out of it than most expected. Congrats to Newman and SV.

It was close all the way. Stillman doesn't have a 112 pounder, so that was a forfeit. There state champ pinned at 119, so Erie/Ptown needed two pins to tie, and they would have won on criteria. Got the first pin by freshman Cole, and then his brother won by decision. It was a close meet throughout, the Panthers got big pins from Stoddard at 135, and Miller at 215 to get extra bonus points, and that was big in keeping the score close.

The matches started at 135. All I remember is that E-P won the last few matches, at 125 by fall and 130 by decision. Stillman Valley had built up quite a lead but E-P rallied in the second half of the matches. I think that E-P's 215 won by fall also. There was a good crowd at Riverdale HS, probably 80% full.

NO!!!!! It was very close. Stillman gave it their all, but E/P worked as hard as they could and kept it within reach. They only FFT the 1 weight class that they didn't have a wrestler at, and that was 112. It came down to the final two matches, E/P needing 2 pins to tie and win in the tiebraker.

E/P has been under estimated all year. It's been a great being the underdog. The night played out exactly as we had it on paper. We knew we could win 7 matches, we were hoping for an upset or bonus points to carry us over the top. What was great about the match is that Stillman (or anybody else for that matter) saw us coming. Congradulations E/P on a great season. We had a lot to cheer about this year.

Good luck Stillman and Newman. Lets bring home some hardware for our sectional.
