Yeah the Cusick v Robbins match went down similar to what you said luv2wrestle -- Robbins pretty much dominated the match, Cusick had trouble getting much offense going at all against him.
In the end Cusick was on his back in a headlock -- I believe it came out of a scramble. But he held off & was not pinned. |

Cusick moved up and age group and wrestled Junior (140) and so did a few other Sophmores.

I wasn't there this weekend, but I heard that they haven't switched over to the new FILA rules of three two-minute periods, five-point throw to end the match, two three point moves wins the period, the push out, etc., etc. Why is that? Aren't they going to institute these new rules at Nationals this year? I know they have been doing them on the senior level, for obvious reasons. Here's a link from USA Wrestling that talks about how it is becoming standard this year: http://www.themat.com/pressbox/press....asp?aid=12109. Here is another link covering the rule changes: http://www.themat.com/pressbox/press....asp?aid=10529. Finally, FILA's rules in PDF form from January of this year: http://www.fila-wrestling.com/downlo...es_jan2005.pdf.

That's right - USA Wrestling has chosen not to impement the new FILA rules until next year on the theory that there were kinks that needed to be worked out (which has proven to be true).
W Fan - as for Cusick, he did not "move up" an age group. Even though he is a sophomore, he is an older sophomore. He is a Junior by age regardless of his year in school. USA Wrestling goes by year of birth, not by year in school or the IKWF age groupings.

That is not what I have been told. But you are right: it is not really a big deal.

Well your right it doesn't matter so lets post the correct facts. It doesnt matter what you heard. The kid was a sophmore this year because he IS a sophmore. He was 15 at the start of the year. He may have turned 16 by now but was not suppose to be a junior in high school.
Not sure if your talking about cadet/junior or year/age in school. Last edited by Turk_2k5; 04-27-2005 at 06:40 PM. |
