thanks warrior, if someone on here new as much about Illinois back then as they do now and make a fair comparison of how they match up then it would work. Realisticaly my 9 and 10 guys would barely crack the actual top 25 or not even crack it at all

Good Discussion but a very subjective analysis

Every person involved in IL wrestling has a list that consists of people that have influenced them personally with regard to the sport of wrestling. In making a list I would definitely include a few of the names on many of these lists but have others that would not make many lists other than my own. All in all it is a good discussion, and the countless names on all the lists show why this state is very competitive on the national level.

I saw Mr. Twister put Mark Mestemacher on his list. If everyone knew all the stuff he does, he would be on everybody's list. He was a HUGE supporter of SIUE wrestling, and without him, they wouldn't have a team right now. The success of the Edwardsville high school wrestling program has also been partly due to his efforts and resources.

Smile Mark Mestemacher

I would second the nomination for Mark Mestemacher. I would put him in the top 10. Along with Jon Davis a very influential ikwf leader in the south...
I would also include Allen Kirgan for honorable mention, 20 years with Granite city wrestling, either through kids club, high school, and off season programs, tournaments. Head coach Granite City hs and creeping on 300 wins..
I guess I'm a little biased though. He's my pops.

Great list one question . Is Marty Williams the head coach at Mahomet or the AD. He was a few years ahead of me in school at Yorkville. I throught he was the AD there. I could be wrong

I believe Marty is the HS principal now. He did a fantastic job when he was the head coach at M-S back in the day.
