Wrap Up Show- Frosh/Soph -From Staller OT

8 of 27 picks in the finals puts the Staller below the Mendoza line......

21 of my picks did place, however my batting average dropped below .300 in predicting the finals. This probably means no all star appearence for me this summer, and I also blew most of the bonus money in my contract....It's a good thing I'm not in my option year!

What happened in Springfield? here is my top 10......

10. The kids from outside Chicago brought thier "A" games.... No pun intended. Downstate, upstate, altered state..... The Chicago metro kids got there hats handed to them in alot of bracket's. Forget all the A, AA and AAA debates because the Moline, Granite City, Bloomington, Pontiac, Dekalb, Belville, Porta, Erie, Peotone, Springfiled and Galesburg kids don't want to hear it! What's more, they proved it on the mat and made the Staller look bad....Leson learned fellow Illini!

9. My OW goes to Dalton "Road House" Waite from Dekalb. After watching, I did not think that Josh "A Train" Anthony could be stopped. Someone forgot to tell Dalton!

8. Dallas "Elton" Thorton of Bloomingdale danced through the Grand March wearing a pair of purple shades. He said goodbye to the Yellow Brick Road and won it all. Talk the talk, walk the walk.......Rocket man, indeed! (That's Elton John for you kids out there.)

7. Elvis is in the building! Loved seeing Dale "The Dean" Eggert watching the action from a distance. Nothing beats getting a few minutes of time from the venerable Dean of the NSC.... He also knew who the Staller was... No fooling the King!

6. My all Great Guy team:
"Stone Cold" Austin Marsden (AKA Baby Huey)
Cullen Smith
Joey "kickin' some" Butz
Alex "Mighty" Young
Luke Miller "Time"
Ronnie "Burnin Down The" Hauser

5. Ramsey Lewis calling out the Staller on Brandon "Bam Bam" Weber.... Three overtime matches, but he did get to place a medal over that huge heart on sunday afternoon.

4. Coach Silvestro, the former Tar heel wrestler calmly watching his boy in the semi's.... Until OT! Yes, the coach in the corner had to go to another match, but boy he looked good in the chair. Duke did win the ACC, but we know your only a fan of the mat....

3. Tim "Bull" Schmitt proved he is not full of Bull Schmitt.....Being a champ is a bunch of BS...........

2. At around 2:30 PM on Sunday I realized I have 251 days until the 2009-2010 season begins.

1. Adam "Payday" Hay of Moline felt dissed by the Staller's picks last week. He challenged me and he proved he knew his bracket better than i did! Although he was dissapointed in losing 3-2 in the finals, I expect this little scraper to fly high next season.....Way to make me eat my words payday!

Dallas "Elton" Thornton of Bloomington was rocking the hate blockers and it was a good thing because the staller gave him no love in his picks last week...seriously though, i think we're gonna be seeing big things out of this kid next year...i was very impressed by his hand fighting...although it looked in the finals like he's never picked up how to return a wrestler to the mat!!!

congratulations to all the wrestlers who competed this weekend. whether it was fresh/soph state, the matmen challenge or the illinois/indiana dual...its easy to grab a bag of chips and the remote once the season gets over but those of you who put the time in and get those extra matches in the offseason will be successful in this sport...i guarantee it!

Punkin,
Waite was up 10-3 before the zebra low fived the mat.... I was really surprised because the "A train" had been dominating until the finals. He had 2 majors and 2 falls.
By the way, I prefer Jackass over Punked on TV, but for a screen name the "Punkin" choice was clear. Ashton just does not have the same edge as Knoxville.

Upsets? Too many to mention. I do think Chris Led "Zepplin"better was right up near the top, though. Mo Mo, Moline Momentum!

Favorite? My vote goes to Jack "The Ripper" Dechow with Jordan "Plant 'Em" Blanton in the stands rooting for his little cuz. What a family tree they got going on up there. They are probably all from the planet Krypton...........

A few folks asked me If I had ever been in the media or broadcasting.... The anwser is "No".
I have, however been in a few movies. Recently, I had a small role in the Will Ferrel movie, "Semi Pro". I played the Grizzly Bear that Jackie Moon wrestled before a Tropics basketball game. The folks on the set called me the Bear.
