And to think if one person would sit here and brag about an Ohio boy (man) rising in the world of wrestling it would be the lantern.

If he would use those ohio ties I would brag. I am waiting for a excuse of why there isnt a pipeline with st eds.

What I am saying is there is great talent around the nation some isnt noticed very much because they dont wrestle nationally hence craig brester who took a while for nebraska to notice. St Eds and Blair do not gurantee you to be amazing wrestler but what they do prepares kids for college better than most programs. When Drew Pariano started getting the st ed kids the wildcats started wining. Also tell me how the hell you cant form a pipeline with your own brother and u of i could use jamie clark hes a stud but he will end up at penn state or ohio state

Even if you had a "pipeline" whats to say that those kids want to go to Illinois? I would assume most kids want to stay in their home state if possible and rightfully so. Theres a lot more that goes into selecting a college than where the brother of your coach coaches.
I don't buy into the wrestling at this program prepares you for college deal either. If you have been to college nothing really prepares you for college bside the will to succeed and achieve something. What gets you ready for college is getting as much mat time as you can against the best opponents you can find. Whats to say that all those St. Ed's boys wrestle all summer instead of playing baseball or running track or anything else? I know your going to say that you know them all and the coaching staff and that don't happen, but theres plenty of talent not tied up in east coast catholic schools. |

actaully one of ohios best wrestlers runs track chris phillps. Heres why the st ed pipeline is so important. During Russ Helicksons tenure he couldnt keep most of the in state studs in state especially in the clevland area. The Jordan twins, Alan Fried, Joe Heskett, Marcus Mollica, Mike Kulzki, Andy Hrovat, Ryan Bertin, Mark Moos, Ryan Lang, Jeff Knupp, Yoshi Nakurma and many more. Ohio State couldnt keep the kids in state. Than when Tom Ryan gets hired he makes sure he gets Tommy Rowlands and Joe Heskett on staff to try to keep the Ohio kids in Ohio. He hasnt gotten the job done but if Ryan wasnt the coach at Ohio State they wouldnt be the top 2 choices for Jamie Clark Logan Steiber wouldnt of commited there he wouldve followed Cael and they may of missed out on Chris Phillps. Ryan has built a pipeline with ed's he will be able to get Walsh jesuit/ akrons best because of his ties with Joe Heskett and Oak Harbor/ toledo because of jd bergman. Ever since Tom Ryan came in Michgain hasnt been able to recruit ohio the same same with northwestern thats why the wolverines are now building a pipeline with blair because ohio state stole there pipeline.
Buxton will be at libertyville ask him what Blair does and how he gets his kids better

Your missing the point here. There is more to wrestling than two schools or one state. If those schools were the be all end all then the whole lineup would be recruited to one school and be unstoppable. College coaches are going to go out and find the best kids they can get to come in and wrestle in their system. Just because a kid wrestles at a certain school is not going to secure success in college. Montini is arguably the top school in Illinois and where are their boys now? (i'm not a montini hater please) The big names in wrestling this year were from Grant and Highland Park. I think your reading to many forums or something and you can't see anything outside of PA and Ohio.

outside of pa and ohio you want find a bigger new jersey and new york supporter than me whos not from the east coast. Good wrestlers are good wrestlers look at all the studs from the dakotas the steiners, lincoln mclravy, randy lewis the scheers those are some of the best wrestlers from the 80's and 90's. A pipeline does help with recruting ask any college coach because if that school has blue chippers and with a pipeline you have a better shot at getting that stud.
Yes Montini hasnt produced the stud college wrestlers one may be postponed till next season but I don't know how to explain that. Steve Garland the virgina coach said the four main states the look at is ohio pensylvania new jersey and new york. Mark Manning looks all over the place but he is trying to build a pipeline in pensylvania and new jersey. The bingamton coachs are building a program because of the depth in upstate new york. Tom Ryan built a joke of a program in hofstra to a power because of the talent in long island. Tim Flynn took annual crap hole edinboro and made them a power because he recruits from those four states nj ny ohio and pa mainly pa though. And dont tell me cael thinks Illinois has the best talent because the main reason he went to penn state was because of the talent in pennsylvania and ohio I would like to get a college coach answer of why they like to recruit pa ohio nj and new york more than Illinois.

I'm not saying that those states don't have good wrestling, but I will say that you can't say that Heffernan won't be successful because he doesn't have a pipeline to St. Ed's. Thats just dumb. You come on here and base all your wrestling "knowledge" based on what you hear from these east coast guys and believe it to be absolute truth. Oh he said this and he said that, it's time to have your own thoughts. Binghampton came to tiny old Illinois to take a public school kid names Chase. Old Iowa went to Grant to take on this kid named Dennis. What do they do? Well Chase almost makes an Olympic team before graduating high school and Dennis made a crazy run at a Ncaa title and walked away with a title at the Midlands. But who are we to say anything about Illinois wrestling on a Illinois site. Heffernan will go out and find quality student-athletes that fit what he wants to see on HIS team. He'll develop them and they have to get it done on the mat.
