125 - Long (ISU) vs McDonough (IA)
A LOT of action!! McDonough was the main aggressor, and won the match 13-7. Long had a 3-2 lead but gave up crucial points at the end of periods.

looked like Long gassed a bit at the end of the 2nd there... not very promising.

fanthorpe has been battling an injury all season, thisll be the first he's wrestled. hopefully he beats dennis this time, it was like 4-3 at the midlands last year.

133 - Fanthorpe (ISU) vs Dennis (IA)'

Battle of the 2 IL boys. Dennis with the first takedown, then Fanthorpe escaped and hit a "cisco" for 4 pts. Dennis with another takedown in the 2nd, tied 6-6 after 2. Dennis with a takedown in the third, and score tied 8-8 heading into OT. Dennis looks REAL tired, but a scramble towards the end of OT results in Dennis getting a takedown at the buzzer for the win, 10-8 OT.

dennis wins on an iffy call. probably could have gone either way, but the cyclone in me didnt like it one bit.

fanthorpe's conditioning was impressive for his first match of the year. dennis was really pushing the handfighting the whole first few periods but slowed down the offense the third period. got a td at the end of OT1, right at the buzzer on the edge of the mat in the middle of a long scramble.

tough call at 133, I could see it both ways. Clearly, I thought it WASNT a takedown, but I dont necessarily disagree with the call.

141 - Gallick (ISU) vs LeClare (IA)
Gallick had a nice lead but LeClare stayed on it and wore him down and took him down in the last 10 secs to send it into OT.
In ot, Gallick looked to be giving up the takedown and scrambled out of it for the "2"....
6-3 IOWA

gallick had 2 big takedowns early, but has been nursing a bone bruise and used up all of his injury time. gallick wins in ot1 with some funk, and gable is crying about it.

leclere didnt have much offense on his feet, but he looked rejuvenated after the first injury timeout, and pushed gallick into a stalling call in the 3rd, and then got a takedown at the end to send it into ot.

mueller gets 1st takedown on metcalf.

149 - Mueller (ISU) vs Metcalf (IA)
Mueller gets the first takedown, but gives up back points at the end of the first that REALLY hurt.
Metcalf with a takedown in the second, 9-2 after 2 periods.

Metcsalf win a pin in the third period - Mueller sat on the bottom and wouldnt allow Metcalf to let him up, so Metcalf "snaked" him for the pin

12-3 IOWA (that one HURT)

mueller takes metcalf down and metcalf tears mueller apart limb by limb, and finishes with a pin.

sorenson is out over carr, carr is hurting too. sorenson won a wrestle off 5-1 to get the start. we've got a sort of vested interest in this one as sorenson was my roommate's neighbor and best friend when they were younger.
