Ness doesn't show up against gomez

The sole reason I came to watch Michigan state wrestle Minnesota was for the ness-gomez match and ness isn't even wrestling now. I mean, I like 2 blocks from the arena but it's still frustrating. Is ness hurt?

I've tried to get some info about Ness, but haven't been able to and could find none. So he wasn't even there with the team watching huh? Yeah, you would've got to see a good match there with those two, that does suck!

Minnesota almost never releases any information--they are as secretive and uncommunicative as Illinois. Although I'm not advocating releasing personal information, treating wrestling fans with disdain does not augur well for the future of college wrestling. Treat fans poorly and the fan base will wither.

Anyway, Ness was hurt at National Duals during his match with Sentes. If I recall correctly, Sentes stood up and was trying to escape and did a Granby roll and landed pretty violently on Ness' chest. Ness took injury time and quite amazingly not only completed the match, but scored quite a bit on Sentes. But Ness hasn't wrestled since. Minnesota never releases info, but I'm sure you can appreciate that chest/rib injuries can be serious, and even if not a bad injury that area is slow to heal. I don't fault JRob for not wrestling Ness against the anticipated match with Franklin Gomez, but I don't see the harm in announcing in advance that Ness was questionable, or would not wrestle.

There is no definitive word on why Dustin Schlatter has not wrestled the last few weeks. Speculation is that he is dropping to 157 and that weight-cutting rules dictate how quickly he can do that. Again, that is simply message board speculation.

Italiano, I understand your frustration. Lack of information from wrestling programs irritates fans--something wrestling cannot afford to do.

I was very disappointed, it was as well the whole reason I showed up (of course it's only about an hour for me). I mean i understand why they didn't wrestle him, but it would have been cool to see. The meet overall was exciting, except for that 157 dance competition. I also couldn't figure out what the deal was with Mario Mason, he looked awful. I don't know if he was too sucked down, but didn't show any bit of competitive spirit until he was already down by 7 or 8.
