Ikwf update teams and numbers

Well were at 756 as of this morning, and just in case you havent looked, it looks like there are several northern clubs that are going to make the trip and southern clubs as well, So Im going to stick with my prediction of 1200 kids, And wish everyone the best of luck,

That is awesome if your not wrestling Elite. Almost 250 of those are in the 9/10 group. My son is wrestling Senior Elite 138 and there are 4 kids registered at this point. Unfortunately the majority of the kids who wrestle Elite because they want to, not because they were a SQ and have to, are from the Northern and Southern clubs,(not knocking the West, just don't know enough of those clubs) and they don't seem to be sending their kids.

Well has your son wrestled any of the 4 in that bracket, do you know any of those kids in that bracket, those are the questions that need to be asked, those 4 kids might be the best competion your son has ever seen, and with your son youll have at least a 5 man bracket, and then maybe someone else will see your son and then they will sign up, Im new to this and Im just trying to promote our sport, so the more that show up the better,Hope to see ya there and best of luck !

Almost 1400 last year. Maybe 1200-1400 this year? I don't get it... I remember when 2000+ was the norm. I also remember when Tulsa use to be on the same day and parents/kids would drive all night to get back in time to wrestle in the Open.

This tournamnet needs some serious promotion from the IKWF and support from it's members.

They may very well be. If it stays only 4, hopefully it will be done as a round robin and not a straight bracket.(he is 1 of the 4) I'm sure there are probably kids wrestling in the open division that are good enough to wrestle elite, but just aren't ready to take that step. My son has been there, but he set his goals for this season and we are doing our best to help him achieve them. This is why we are hoping that the kids we know from the Chicago area that are at 138, decide to come.

Good luck to your club as well!! i think You mentioned in an earlier post you were taking some boys to Tulsa. Should be loads of talent there, good luck there as well.
