Congratulations Wheaton-Warrenville South: 5 State Qualifiers

152lbs: Spartacus Chino Sr. (35-1) Ranked 2nd
171 lbs: Evan Welsh Jr. (16-3) Not Ranked (On JV first half of the year)
189 lbs: Vinny La Montagna Sr. (31-8) HM
215: lbs: Joe Hall Sr. (31-2) Ranked 2nd

Steve Franke WWS's 160 lber (Ranked 7th) was upset Friday night by a wrestler from Meta Valley (can't remember his name) and wrestled all the way back to the Consolation Semi-final match where he ran into Willie Anaya from DGS. Franke and Anaya had a great match and the match was decided in Overtime where Anaya came out on top.

If Franke would of qualified WWS would have had 6 State qualifiers, every wrestler from 145lbs-215lbs. South doesn't get much attentions because they are not a good dual team. South had at least 3 Forfeits all season in the lighter weights. If South could of found a way to fill in those three spots with even average wrestlers they would have been a team that could really do some damage. But regardless, Congratulations to the WWS wrestlers, you guys have done one hell of a job this year. Now it's time to finish the job.

I was very impressed witht the Wheaton-Warrenville South wrestlers at the sectional. They really stepped it up. Way to represent the DVC!
