The South has risen again...Class AA southern best right here
I had a prominent coach from the southern part of Illinois write me and say that there are some good wrestlers in the south that illinoismatmen.com is ignoring. So I told coach to send me their info or a ranking and I would post it for all to digest and peruse. This is the list and web site that coach sent me with his comments attached so don't point any fingers at me. I am just the message carrier. But just like Central Illinois had Bloomington's Brett Robbins who was state ready the last few years, wrestling is alive south of I 80. Who is the next star from the south, the Quad Cities and for that matter central Illinois. As coach told me, "The south knows exactly whats going on up here in the north but do we know what's going on their?" Great question!
I think he mixed in a few class A wrestlers but with the way the state is who knows who is A or AA. This is the perfect time to put this up as Mount Carmel travels to Granite City and St. Louis Super Duals in an attempt to revive their slumping injury plagues season on Friday (6 p.m.) night. I just wonder will there be a big crowd. Last year was kinda sparse but there was basketball in the main gym that night. Maybe this year will be different. TOP WRESTLERS IN THE SOUTH -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 103. 1. Colin Algire - Bellville West 112. 1. Josh Galbriath - Bellville West 119. 1. Kyle Williams - Mascoutah -he won the only tournament where all four of the top guys were at. 2. Eric Ellington - East St. Louis - took Ciccirelli. Can he do it twice??? 3. AJ Ciccirelli - Edwardsville - Tough loss to Ellington and Ragan but bounced back with win at GC 125. 1. Tommy Hill - (class A) Roxanna - Jacob Nay (Oak Park - Missourri)WHO???? 2. Tyrez Ash - Cahokia 130. 1. Wade Lowe- Alton - another piece of hardware for the collection?? 2. Demond Carter - Eat St. Louis - strong wrestler lost to Lowe at Mas for 1st 135. 1. Keveyon Allen - East St. Louis -strong and... strong. 2. Matt Beasley - Quincy - another shot at Allen and I think he will take the top spot 140. 1. Aaron Winning - Bellville Altoff - looked good against Bailey. 2. Tyler Babcock - Civic Memorial-tough against Bailey, lucky draw and took 2nd 3. Schools
Hey Twist, any chance of having the same coach include schools? There may be some common opponents from tournaments that might put some of these wrestlers' ability into perspective.
And guys (and gals) don't rip this list, just try and come up with some possible facts and results to throw into the mix.

In my opinion, I believe only 10 or 15 southern wrestlers should be consider serious contenders for placing at state.
