a few more

Naper North and Lyons are also @ Naperville sectional. Probably about 7/8 of the best teams in state will be there.

To make matters worse I think the winner of this sectional faces CS/Provi first.

Nice job Gannaway and the IHSA.

Yes, the IHSA really messed up this time. The winner of the Bolingbrook Dual Team Sectional (Montini, Glenbard North, Nequa Valley or whoever) gets Orland Park Team Sectional winner in the first round at Team State Finals. Therefore, you will have at least one of the top ranked teams not even qualifying for State and the other not placing unless they can upset who every one assumes will be Sandburg.

***Corrected from saying Sandburg would be the opponent.

Sandburg made it to the Team State Finals already?

Brutal. Just straight out brutal. Now, I will concede that Gannaway droppsed this ball in a big, big way. You have to look at the strength of the teams coming out of each section and almost "secretly" seed the dual team tournament ahead of time. I understand the point of view of representation through out the state, but this is becoming ridiculous and where the best teams come from is no secret. How about the IHSA does this? Start keeping team scores at state and allow the top 8 teams to fight it out at dual team state the following weekend? Some people will cry "strong dual team, weak tourney team" but if your good guys don't know when to turn it up and for what reasons, then maybe they don't belong there in the first place. That would make for a far less margin of error come dual team state and a lot more excitement.

What has Gannaway done over his tenure to make our great sport better?

What will be his legacy?

You guys have stated that he is an ex-wrestler and coached for a while and therefore is somehow a good person for this very important position?
What does this position pay? I personally can think of many great wrestlers that have also coached that are very in touch with the issues our sport faces today.

I seriously have been trying hard to think of one great thing that has happened to Illinois wrestling since this guy has been around.

It's not to late. Move some teams out of the Boilingbrook Team Sectional.. and others in.

Let's not forget here that he does not have the final say on all issues concerning wrestling. The IHSA, as we all know, is as bureaucratic as the US government and his opinions aren't the only ones that matter when it comes to wrestling. I have to imagine that his heart is in the right place, but we should also note that he is one of seven Assistant Executive Directors and juggles the concerns of football, too. Id like to think otherwise, but I'm sure that his dealings with football supercede his dealings with wrestling. Maybe the guy agonizes all night about having the finals on TV and doing more about putting the best teams downstate, but in the end he is at the mercy of hundreds of schools and their administrations. Do I think someone might do a better job than he does with wrestling? Absolutely, but until the IHSA takes wrestling out of his hands and gives it to one AED who has nothing else to worry about but wrestling, things aren't going to go much of anywhere and that is sad.

I am presenting the following as factual information at advance the discussion:

1. The sectional matchups are set years in advance on a rotating basis. You can see the matchups through 2012 in this year's Wrestling Term and Conditions.

2. IHSA policy is very clear and it covers all sports-- there is no seeding beyond the first tournament level (for wrestling, regionals).

Now I'll offer opinions:

1. Since this years' match ups were set years ago-- before these teams were "dyansties," Mr. Gannaway did not drop the ball.

2. What have Mr. Gannoway and the IHSA done to advance wrestling? I dunno--- how about HAVING A STATE SERIES IN THE FIRST PLACE?!
