Northrup sparkles, but Cadets face Keystone showdown
Jordan Northrup had a day to remember.
Now 6-0 at 105, all Northrup did was beat Cadet Greco-Roman champions back-to-back in the Thursday afternoon session. He rebounded from a first-period loss to shut out the 98-pound champion, Ronnie Bresser of Oregon. Northrup shut out Bresser the final two periods to win 1-8, 2-0, 6-0, effectively ending Bresser’s chances to win a Cadet Triple Crown this year. Next was the 105-pound champion, Darian Cruz of Pennsylvania. After losing the first period 3-0, Northrup pinned Cruz 35 seconds into the second period. Illinois will likely need more heroics like Northrup’s to hold off Pennsylvania, which had an excellent day. ****** The tale of the tape: Pennsylvania leads Illinois, 16-15 in number of wrestlers left, and also leads in the number of unbeaten wrestlers, 7-6. In addition to Northrup, Jabari Moody (84), Miguel Silva (91), Sebastian Pique and Barlow McGhee (112) and Michael Johnson (285). Still alive for Illinois: 84 – Nick Lukanich, 2-2 (will wrestle for seventh place); Jabari Moody, 5-0; Jordan Reich, 2-1 91 – Miguel Silva, 5-0 105 – Jordan Northrup, 6-0 112 – Sebastian Pique, 7-0; Barlow McGhee, 7-0; Josh Alber, 6-1 119 – Nicholas Gil, 6-1 125 – Garrett Sutton, 6-1 130 – Austin Schoen, 5-1 140 – Colin Holler, 7-1 171 – Ricky Robertson, 4-1 189 – Jordan Ellingwood, 4-1 285 – Michael Johnson, 3-0 So tomorrow is big! Interesting scenerio at 140!
Holler beat clark, but holler lost to Villareal. Villareal and clark wrestle next. Villareal gets a championship berth with a win over clark. however clark would need to win by tech or pin to get to the championship match.... if not...then Holler gets the chance to go for gold! |

Illinois needs some breaks right now, and that would certainly be one.

They all beat each other and ended up with a 3pt and a 1pt classification...so how do they determine who goes for what place? |

Northrup loses to Kolodzik (OH)
Bresser (OR) pins Kolodzik Gotta give Bresser credit. He came back strong and did what he had to do to get to the finals. Northrup wrestling for 3rd.

I counted quickly but I've got Team Illinois with:
5 in the finals 5 wrestling for third 14 total all-americans Is this going to be enough? It appears that we have it won.
