How hard can it be to have regional sites & teams?

We are 19 days away from Regionals and very few teams in the state know where they are going for regionals. To me, this is something the coaches and parents can demand the IKWF do a better job with. This can not be this hard each and every year for the IKWF to figure out. Is there a system in place? If so... it doesn't work. If there is not a system, then create one.

Int the 12 plus years I have been involved with the IKWF we have always recieved our Regional assignments the same weekend as the IHSA sectionals. I find it funny that everyone is up in arms over finding out where they are going according to another thread the e-mails just went out last night to the coaches. I have read the threads the last few days blasting the way youth wrestling is handled here in the state of IL and feel that if people are unhappy go leave the IKWF and go to the AAU and start your own club. I feel the IK and IE was just fine for my boys one of which is competing in his last year of high school so you should enjoy the years you have because they go way too quick!Just my 2 cents!

It's called human decency. It allows for travel plans. Family plans, etc. Plus its not that hard to assign teams to regionals, and get it done. But you know it all and have done it all, so thank you!

Nope don't know it all or done it all. Never made that claim. I seen in one of your post you want to get people to think. I'm willing to listen if you can get your opinions across without constantly having to tear at the infrastructure we have here in IL for youth wrestling.(IE: tournament dirextors, sectional directors, and IKWF in general) In my line of work I have always found it more productive to try to talk through issues then to tear someone or something down to get them to understand my point. Also if I'm unhappy with something I try to work to better it. Like try to run for a position in which you make changes or work with your sectional rep to help implement changes. I have read your post since you have came to this board and have always refrained from replyng to them: however sometimes I think you have the right ideas just a problem conveying them. Best of luck to you and yours as this season ends may all their goals be accomplished.

"Killing them with kindness Tigerdad...love it"!

Regionals and Sectionals have almost always been on the same date(s). 25th or 26th, with Sectionals the week after of course. The only thing that would have changed would be the location in which your head coach or whomever runs your club CLEARLY would have known by now and shared that with staff and parents. There's nothing wrong with what the IKWF is doing from my POV. We got our email with date, time, location and all of the other vitals from Todd last night just as we were all told would happen.

I don't believe that anything they are doing at the IKWF is wrong or needs changed IMHO. I don't know what sectional you are from but the central sectional will not find out till tonight/tomorrow. The sectional director had said this back on Jan 31. The problem with figuring it all out is that you don't want one regional having 600 kids and another only having 150. You have to wait till all of the teams report to the sectional director how many kids they have attending and then appropriately sending teams to balance out the regionals. This is the only fair and balanced way to do this.
