AA Wrestlers and their Future.

So now that the season has come to an end these boys have possibly the biggest decision of their lives, where to go to college. So I know a couple guys and their commitments, and now I am curious to see others.

Harrah- Drexel
Dechow- Old Dominion
and that's all that I know.

Zane Richards will be wrestling for Illinois and my son Matt Garelli will be wrestling for Stanford in the fall. It has been amazing watching all these boys develop and mature throughout the years.

The heartbreaking truth about the state of wrestling in America is that HS kids have never been better but upon graduation, there are far fewer wrestling programs in America than there was 30 yrs ago.
Imagine all the GREAT wrestles in DuPage county, and College of DuPage NO longer has a wrestling program.
Remember the tough as nails great Eastern Illinois wrestling program under Ralph McCausland ? They shut that down a few years ago.
Illinois State shut down it's program 15 yrs ago, - - - 30 yrs ago under coach Pilard, there was an awesome program at Joliet Jr college, it's long gone.

We just crowned 42 State Champions in Illinois and 210 place winners, -- - - and most these kids are phenomonal wrestlers. Where will they be able to continue wrestling ? Not enough programs out there for them all. And that's sad.
