Marist is returning 14 of 14 starters(correct me if I'm wrong) so they will be quite the force to be reckoned with, 2 years from now they will win state 2 years in a row.

Sandburg also is a young team that will be in the state finals again next year against OPRF.

But on a 2A note, when is the next team going to really challenge montini? Seems like they will go on quite a reign of terror.
I believe they are returning 12 of 14.They are losing a solid 160 lber...HM Joe Galloson, and a solid 145lber Chandler Lewis.

Lemont was the only team that could of challenged Montini this year in 2A. They beat Montini heads up 5 times at Regionals. 145 could be a toss up and if Lemont got their 220 on Montini HWT that too would of been a toss up. Montini would of won but it would of been a fairly close dual.

Next year Montini should clean house pretty badly in 2A.

3A I have to like Sandburgs chances of repeating. Marist is the only other team with a shot to beat them. Sandburg will have a big drop after 2013. I think they have 8 or 9 Junior starters right now.

I think OPRF has 9 of 14 starters coming back with 3 of their 4 state placers coming back.

I'd like to congratulate the fans of Glenbard North, Minooka, OPRF, Providence, Carl Sandburg, St Rita, and others who have never gloated, over-stated or even called attention to their real victories on the mat.

I especially applaud and appreciate the fact that I can't remember any of those fans claiming imaginary titles or victories.

I think if Marist is going to win state it has to be next year, Sears, Benoit, Pruitt, Howell, and Hickey are all going to be seniors thats a lot to replace especially in the upperweights which was the strength of their team. I saw Marists JV and freshman team once against St. Rita and the upperweights on the lower levels didn't look real good. What anyone has failed to mention is because of all those guys in the upperweights coming back if one of them gains a few more pounds than expected someone is getting bumped from the line-up. Alex Benoit is only a freshman at 170 and Andreotti is only a sophomore at 152 who if im not mistaken is the running back on the football team, what happens if the football coaches want Andreotti bigger or Benoit has an unexpected growth spirt? Andreotti could bump Benoit who could bump his brother who could bump Pruitt and so on. Heffernan seems to have a lot of institutional control over there so it probably won't happen, but it is a likely scenario.
I think Sandburg will be the team to beat next year and I like many other fans would love to see them at the Dvorak to see them compete against Marist, OPRF, Montini, GBN....

Andreotti won't jump up 2 weight classes, in fact there's a good chance he stays at 152, at most he'll be 160, and Condon(He'll be a sophmore next season, a real tough kid, I think he was either a runner up , or a state champ for Vittum in 8th grade) could be at 152, then you'll have...

Andr.-160

A. Benoit 170

E. Benoit 182

Pruitt 195

Howell 220

Hickey 285........The lower weights for Marist are going to be real solid next year also.....I would like to see Sandburg at the Dvorak also, they are going to be a pretty solid team.

Op isn't done. On paper they are marginally softer than last year . But they return 3 high placers. I heard the have some good takent who saw no varsity time last year. Their middle weights will be very good next year too.
As far as CS winning it hands down Marist will be in contention next year with 8 and 6 state qualifiers and placers returning next year. I think both in addition to montini will be ranked highly nationally. Cs earned the right to be called favorites next year.

OPRF-Real good young nucleus Rundell, Early, Mahomes. Not many coaches better than Powell

Sandburg-Returns 11 of 14 Starters. Favorite to Repeat 3A

Montini-11 of 14 Starters back. Replacements already there with Freshmen class. No room for them to start this year. May be best team in school history.

GBN- Always good has best wrestler in state with Cortez.
Those sure look like the standout teams. Hinsdale Central returns 7 sectional qualifiers, 3 state qualifiers and 2 state place-winners. Battaglia just missed coming qualifying at 138, losing to state placer Cook in the consolation semis at a very tough DeLaSalle Sectional (Corse, Cook, Tisza, McCabe qualified). Hinsdale should be a top 10 team.
