2012 Illinois Midget Championships "Midget State"

I first would like to thank all the people that make this tournament a reality. With out their help this would not exist. Secondly i would like to congratulate all the participants, parents, and coaches for putting in the time and effort and their continued support of Midget State. The wrestling down in Danville might get better and better every year. Some ultra competitive brackets and like i said before Illinois Wrestling is in GOOD HANDS with the talent pool rising through the ranks.

Congrats to 2012 Illinois Midget Champions: Bolingbrook Jr. Raiders...who edged out King Select by 4.5 points...exciting stuff.

This years OW's were top notch and there were several candidates.
OW's:
Kyle Schickel- Bolingbrook Jr. Raiders
Donnell Washington- Harvey PD Twisters
Jamel Sheppard- Gomez Wrestling Academy

I will also stack our grand march up with any other... Thunderstruck was rocking once again....!!!

Hope everyone has a great off-season, and see you all next year!!!

Is there a website that we can order pictures of the kids on the podium?

Great job Big Bash. First time there and thought it was a well run tournament. No complaints.

hats off, thought tournament ran best this year.
no bracketing issues/changes morning of like I've seen in past.

still don't like how the seeding system works, saw ALOT of #1 seeds drop in first two rounds.

Thanks for a great tournament once again! Always impressed by the quality of wrestling by these young warriors...all of them! And always impressed by the continuous flow of matches throughout the 2 days.

Quick question...would there be video footage of the finals march and introductions from 2 years ago? This would have been the 2010 championships. My son was in the finals and I had the footage on a portable harddrive that got infected and could I could not recover it. (fortunately other footage had been backed up before, but this was a new batch that had just been dropped on there).

If anyone might have that and could provide it or direct me to it, I'd be grateful. It was a great moment that we'd like to save for posterity!

Thanks!

you need to look again there were several bracket switches kids winding up in brackets that were not there before weigh ins I know this to be the case in at least 3 brackets 60, 68, and 72 I also know that in one these brackets there were 2 kids added to the particpants lists after weigh ins and when I inquired about these I was told that they made some mistakes funny thing is most of the mistakes involved orland park kids none the less was a well run tourney it really doesnt matter how the brackets shape up step to the line and wrestle whos in front of you, my only suggestion would be to let people register online and let the kids fall where they fall, then you would have no complaints about fixing brackets, Thanks for putting on a super competitive tourney, P.S and yes my son was in one of these brackets that were changed around, and yes these changes changed his seeding, and at 9 he still ended up on the podium

I had posted a similar post in a different thread about the bracketing.I must say,i came off as bitter and i apologize for that(emotions are a crazy thing, just ask my wife).

I agree with what CFC posted above. My kid also was part of one of these "changed" brackets. At the end of the day,he wrestled whomever he had in front of him and i am proud to say,he ended up on the podium at his respected bracket.I will, however, stick with my suggestion to you Big Bash;Put all registrations online and have a hard cutoff. That way,in my opinion, you will stop getting all of these posts about the so called "shenanigans".

All in all,we had a great time.We met some great parents and kids and left there with a positive feeling.Keep up the great work you do putting this tournament together. This was our last year there, but i will ask that you take into consideration my suggestion for future years.

again,just my 2 cents.

Thank you!

Great tournament. Well organized and ran.

The awards which the weight class winners got were top-notch what with a beautiful medal, bracket board and a trophy for each. Very nice job for the kids who are still at the age where that stuff means more than it will in years to come...

Lots of good-hearted camaraderie between different wrestling clubs and families. Very nice to see!

Thanks. Don't forget the winners got a shirt too!

I wanted to comment on how impressed I was with the overall sportsmanship this weekend. Very little head gear throwing or angry coaches. Great for Illinois Wrestling!!!
