We needed to score a point in 1 of the last 2 matches to clinch with at least 1 kid not giving up bonus points. Swider can clinch it here with a win or not giving up bonus.

Coon was just too big, but it was fun to watch a heavyweight attempt both a super duck and a flying squirrel in the same match. Thank you Mr. Marchok!

The real key was getting back to basics, positioning and being content with scoring 1 while keeping your opponent off the board. It was obvious to me that was the message reiterated by the coaches when Brooks throttled down on a kid he clearly out classed.

Making the highlight reel is nice, but 1 pointers win big matches.

When the fireworks stopped, Illinois won the grind it out matches.
