WTF? Now a gymnast has highjacked the nickname? Between threads and nicknames, highjacking has gotten way out of control!

I was thinking the same thing. I was watching the Olympic girls gymnastics and yes, the commentators referred Gabby Douglass (USA) as the flying squirrel.

I don't know if Gabby Douglas hijacked the name as much as Martha Karolyi did - this is from USA Today Sports:

The Flying Squirrel: Thanks to her high-flying exploits on the uneven bars, her signature event, Douglas was nicknamed the Flying Squirrel by national-team coordinator Martha Karolyi. "I like to become the Flying Squirrel," Douglas said last month. "I like squirrels. They're so adventurous."

However, I think we all know who the real flying squirrel is - Go Ellis!
