I don't know if it is true or not, but it wouldn't surprise me. That is where his brother Ben is wrestling at. As for the program, I have heard they are a solid D3 program.

North Central in Naperville is an up and coming program. They have a new head coach who was the assistant at Wartburg, the perennial DIII powerhouse and nationals champs this year (and last year). They have a number of Illinois guys like Noah and Nathan Fitzenreider, Dustin Doctor and others.

Thanks. I know overall North Central athletics is very good if not great at times. Excellent facilities and located in the middle of the hotbed of wrestling. With some effort NC could become a power real quick.

North Central is a great school that is where my son was going to go but he could not get in this year so he is going to Harper...I believe Yuel is going there because when Chris visited he met yuel's brother and the coach had talked about him coming there.....Coach keller is s great guy and I look for North central to be powerhouse the next few years

Docter was an All-American this year as were two other kids who are both from Michigan, originally. All three return next season, too.

The story I have heard around is that they are ranked number eight right now coming into nxt season. Their coach, Eric Keller, has done wonders for that program. Joe Norton from Montini is reported to be heading there, as well.

You're talking about the Youels here: it's a good bet that their college choice is academics first, atheletics second (Ben was class salutorian, Gabe's basically at that level too). Though N.C. did look good when they topped Elmhurst in a duel this past year (that sucked, Elmhurst is my alma-matter).

Yes, that meet did hurt, but if you remember, Elmhurst had a few starters out and gave a couple matches away in the 2 point loss. If you happened to be at the CCIW championships though, they got revenge and annihilated North Central and everyone else on the way to 8 finalists and their second straight conference title, as well as beatin them by 40 or 50 points at the regional tournament the next week. That being said, North Central does have a very strong team and I believe they are returning all ten starters, so they will be very, very tough this year, and probably the early favorite to win the conference. Elmhurst lost about half of their starters, but have some good young talent coming back. Should be another fun year in the CCIW. North Central peaked at the NCAA tournament with 3 AA's; Doctor as already mentioned, Bobby Gingerich at 157 and Adam Johnson at 133.

Did you wrestle at Elmhurst? I wrestled their for 4 years, coached for 3 more, and have tried to help out the last 4 years since then.

Nope; never wrestled. I caught pucks for the Hockey team. I'm originally from North Dakota, didn't even know what wrestling was till I moved here in H.S.
