Offseason Spring Training for Free/Greco

I know the Winter season has not started yet, but the success of the American Team at Worlds last wee sparked a conversation about spring/summer training in ILLINOIS.

Through the few posts in that site a couple of individuals have been discussing the possibility of setting up local sites that are available to all wresters for Freestyle/Greco Training.

My First objective is to try to gather a master list of schools that are already hosting "open gyms" in the spring that are open to individuals outside the particular school that is hosting it. (for example Minooka opens the room 2-3 times a week and has had kids from Oswego & Morris show up in the past)

Secondly, I would like to get a list started of contact people that are running/coaching at these facilities.

Post a list of the schools below &/or PM me with conact info.

The Motivation is to get some things organized now before the Winter season gets going full swing. This way we will be better equipped to hit the ground running as soon as the Season ends.

Good idea! Once you get all this information gathered up, we can create a page on Matmen for it.

Just to let you know, Carl Foreside was an international champ in FS/GR. NOBODY teaches throws like Coach Foreside. FYI

It's time for Illinois to really dominate in all three styles of wrestling. My e-mail address is lastgladiator@sbcglobal.net

I agree. Carl Foreside is the man in Greco. It would be nice to utilize his knowledge in the sport for the benifit of the state. He should be one of the Fargo Greco coaches. The real question is will the state look past their differences with him and do what is best for the kids?

I have been compiling a list of this type for the past couple years at http://www.forcewrestling.com/OFF-SEASON.html
e-mail me at dvee102@sbcglobal.net and I will send you what I have.

What you said about adding contact names and such is what I did not have all together because it varys every season but if you wanted to use the list as a starting point, be my guest. I can help you in any way you needed if you want.

In my opinion, folkstyle should be used in folkstyle season and FR/GR in the spring and summer.
