SIUE Cougar Wrestling Scrimmage Oct 28

SIUE has started it wrestling practices this week. Coach Whelan and his staff have done a great job of recruiting this year. There are 34 wrestlers with 17 of them new this season. It has a strong southern and central Illinois flavor with Ian Darr from CM, Tommy Hill from Roxana, Austin Wagoner from Granite City, James Aschenbrenner from Mt. Zion, Tyrez Ash from Cahokia, Scott Audo from Glenarm, Shawn Bess from Canton, Brandon Cleary from Mahomet Seymour, Kyle Cunningham from Robinson, Dan Midgett from Robinson, Larry Nelson from Cahokia, Jacob Petri from Carlinville, Joe Rujawitz from Belleville, Albert Schafer from Granite City, Chris Short from Litchfield, and Sean Tyus from Springfield. There several transfers Jed Lewis from Mizzou, Derek Lopez from Boise State, Larry George from NY University and Charles McClay from a community college. Rob Lewandowski from Chicago Marist and Andy Bowker from Aurora West are also new recruits. The Red and White Scrimmage is scheduled for October 28 in the Vadalbene Center at SIUE beginning at Noon. The wrestlers need to see our show of support so I hope to see everyone out at the scrimmage as Cougar Wrestling is back on track. The link to the wrestling website is www.siue.edu/ATHLETIC/WREST.
