Carrol (New Lenox) won @145. Looked pretty good. Pinned all 3 opponents.

145 matches

Carroll looked very strong, looked like he dominated his opponents. Abel at 155 also looked strong, I think they'll be hard to beat this season, You'll probably see them at state, I know Carroll went to state last year.

Jacob Smith did not wrestle Carroll last year. He wrestled New Lenox's JV wrestler Stevens in the state semi's and was losing 4-3 after two periods before he turned it around in the third to get the win. Carroll was beaten out last year, but I have a feeling these two are on a crash course for what will more than likely be the "match of the tournament"! Smith looked very strong last year, but believe it or not strength will be a toss up. Carroll is a man-child. I believe the winner of this match, if it occurs, will be the wrestler who is more fundamentally sound not stronger strengthwise. I have seen both wrestle and I believe this is anyones match.

Smith and Carroll

Carroll did wrestle Smith last year at state in the Quarter finals and lost. I think Smith and Carroll will be the match to watch this year.

I stand corrected on the Smith/Carroll matchup from last year. I still believe Carroll has improved drastically this year in ability and I will stand by my word that this thing is a toss-up. I remember stevens gave smith problems with legs. Watch out! Carroll used some leg work in NL.

Abel from Troy

I would say both wrestlers @155 were pretty solid physically.

Techinique was a little sloppy buy it was the first tourney.

Abel was in the light blue singlet.
