Yes, i was there to watch the match. Penny wrestled up to 215 and was beat in OT. Although the Quincy kid won, i was not impressed at all. He did one move and happened to catch Scott on a bad night.

Penny -Smith was a good match. Smith took him down and let him up to take him down again. Smith won it over time with another take down. Smith looked ill, went straight to the trash can afterwards. Maybe with Smith healthy it wouldn't be so close. Granite crowd was silenced quickly.

The match was not that great. They both looked very slow on their feet. Smith did not look so ill to me. He acted like he just won the world championships after his match, laughing and joking with his teammates. I think it is great that Penny went up to wrestle someone that can give him competition before Geneseo. I think it is good that someone challenges Smith too. Ill or not ill, I think he may need to step up his game if he wants to make some noise at State.

Penny should be bumping up to wrestle quality wrestlers. It's good to see that he did it last night. I don't know if any of you guys check what's going on up north, but Jerome Ward has been bumping up to wrestle the toughest 215lbers all year. He beat Schoen last nite and earlier in the year he bumped up to wrestle Fagiano and lost. If Penny really wants his best performance at state, he is doing the right thing by chasing competition now.

Just wondering why no one want's to give Smith recoginition for beating Penny ? Is it because he is from Quincy or you think he is not a good wrestler or whatever!! Penny is an outstanding wrestler, state medalist. If I was Smith I would be happy too, I just beat a stud. I'm just wondering.
Because looking back over the last 4 years nobody think's much of him or his ability, WHY?

I totally agree with that. Penny is a very awesome wrestler... and wrestling up only helps make him better and stronger for state.
