Malibu he was there.
By the way the format was pretty neat.

If you could arrange to have 8 teams that have close to full rosters and are from say 4 different Sectional areas, and have solid programs, it would be one heck of a Tourney. It might help anawer some of the "who are the best dual teams" questions? Kids with someone at their weight class wrestled 5 times. Plus the tourney runs very smoothly. Good job Bradley.

Also hats off to Homer again, they wrestled very intense against NL.

I agree with the Head locks from Homer but the fact of the manner is N.L. didn't counter. End result is Homer wins.

Quiggs, I must say that even though there were some headlocks thrown, I wasn't impressed with your sportsmanship after the meet. Going through shaking wrestlers hands saying "Nice Headlock" to every one of our wrestlers isn't classy. I expected more from you.

That was the most intense and focused I have seen our wrestlers all year. We kept some matches close that weren't close in other meets and won some matches we had lost in other meets. Overall, we wrestled well and it was a great meet.

Truth is........we are in the 2nd year of our program and the headlock isn't a move that we teach to ANY of our kids. I don't know how they end up in it. And the headlocks weren't thrown from the feet either, just situations that we ended up in.

Every match but 1 was won with a headlock?? A little bit of a stretch too. Quigley, you got pinned in cradle. Wyman, Golob, Gleeson, Marshall, Vernon, and Strzelcyzk all won without the headlock also.

Guess we all know who I am affiliated with now, but someone has to defend our program.

All Vernon does is the headlock.

Like CoachDR said, we do not show our wrestlers how to do a hiptoss (headlock). The headlock came into our room from some of the club wrestlers that joined our program last season. Some of our youngsters that have never wrestled may have picked up the headlock through live wrestling in practice. Nevertheless, we do encourage our wrestlers to wrestle hard when they step out onto the mat and that is the most intense our wrestlers have looked all season. I will take heart over talent any day!

Coach DR,

I know what you mean about not teaching the headlock to these kids, and yet they see it and just want to use it! Or They've gotten caught in one and realize that it could be a quick & easy win if they use it.

While I understand your thoughts on not wanting to teach the kids the headlock because, that's what they are going to want to use all the time.

I've seen it with our kids as well.

I feel that it needs to be taught, and taught correctly. Understanding the headlock also enables you to teach the counters, should one get caught in this hold.
