Big Mistake!
The young man from O'Fallon was holding his own against Ryan Robinson in the second period of the 189 championship match. Then he crossfaced Ryan very hard (it was practically a punch); eight seconds later the ref was slapping the mat and holding up Ryan's Hand.
Sort of reminded me of a song:

You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask of the ol' lone ranger
And you don't mess around with SlimLast edited by GCS77; 12-21-2008, 11:05 AM.

It was against lee wise of o'fallon. Wise locked a cradle in the last 5 seconds and put him on his back to make the score 10-5 i think. The oakville kid threw two very hard elbows to wise's face and the match was stopped with two seconds left.
Lee said he didn't know the opponent was disqualified until he watched the video again.

Some good matches in the championship
103 - Pyle dominated Munie, was never in any trouble.
112 - Prentice Thomas looked tough all weekend, Graminski is just too much for him.
119 - Willams and Richards were tied at 1-1 getting down to the final seconds. Kent gave up 2 and 2 more near fall when he went for it at the end. These two are real good competition for each other. They will meet again at sectionals and probably state.
125 - Rensing looked tough all tournament. The match with DeAvila had a couple of close calls, and could maybe go either way if the two meet again.
130 - Surber had a major, but was about half a second from a tech, literally.
135 - Miller looked physically stronger than everyone he wrestled. Pinned him with a 3/4 nelson in the finals.
140 - Tyrone pinned every guy he faced.
145 - Overtime win for Hayes.
152 - Ballard was down 4-1 after the first, then he really went to work getting a 23-8 tech fall.
160 - Bleyer had some close matches, but the final wasn't one of them. Another 1st period pin.
171, 189, 215, and 285 - Baker, Robinson, Mueller, and Pugh seemed to never be challenged all tournament. There was only one match that did not end in a fall between the four of them and it was Baker's 13-2 major in the finals.
Overall, it was an exciting tournament. It just didn't seem the same without Edwardsville and Althoff. 112 was a tough weight this weekend, so with Harris and Lunn it would have been even better. Also, Miller vs. Gregerson and several other matches that could have happened.Last edited by Mr. White; 12-22-2008, 09:55 AM.sigpic
