The Onion is an American satirical digital media company and newspaper organization that publishes articles on international, national, and local news.

Please argue with them all day long...

I know who the Onion is, but that doesn't change my point. You are the one that continually says that there is nothing that we can do about gun violence.

Wrong. We should do what other countries do that still have guns but without the excessive shootings. But we will not do that do to the slippery slope argument and paranoia. We live in the wealthiest country in the world, yet channel 2 just ran a story that there are thousands of known felons with guns that the police know about but they do not collect them due to money reasons. Thus we get the Aurora IL mass shooting this past summer. Lets get real gun crazy, and have others with guns go get those illegal guns. If we are going to go the crazy gun route lets really do it.

Remind me again what other countries do. Collecting guns from criminals is a good idea in theory, but there are a lot of potential flaws in that theory, like how do you know that you got all of their guns?...what stops them from getting more guns?...What if they decide that a bomb would be better than a gun anyway?

I am not at all against taking guns from known felons...I am enthusiastically in favor of that, and have a prohibitive punishment for those that were caught. Although it would be far more effective if they were afraid to commit the crime in the first place.

"afraid to commit the crime in the first place" - that is complete joke. If there was much thinking involved there wouldn't be constant shooting over 15 dollar items. An idiot just shot a kid who stole his phone down in Lynwood. He evidently went home, got his gun, shot him, then called 911, he will likely be charged for at least manslaughter because it was so idiotic. Look at all of these shootings, very rarely is that a consideration. Most of the times with these mass shootings they kill themselves at the end anyway. We don't have more mental illness than other countries, but we do have more idiots who own guns. I am pro-gun, but some minimal evaluation and training should be necessary for a hand gun. Just a lack common sense involved.

                    • I don't hang out with gun folk.

But now, I've finally met somebody who shot himself with his gun. He told me that his daughter (or granddaughter, I forget which) was in the vehicle with him when his "Taurus" went off without anybody pulling the trigger. It went through his knee area down through the floorboard of the car and some inches into the dirt road.

His lawyer had him find the bullet with a metal detector.

He told me about somebody who got (settlement or trial or arbitration?) 1.3 million dollars because of that make and model going off unexpectedly. I got to see the entrance and exit scars.

                      All for cos-play.

P.S. I don't want to hear about the caliber or types of ammunition or whether it was a revolver or semi-automatic or any of that gun porn stuff.

This is one of the reasons I don't hang out with gun folk much. The "gun porn stuff" is another reason.

The big news is that in Nov. the supreme court basically said gun manufacturers can now be sued for gun deaths. Get ready for all foreign guns, because this will likely put companies out of business. When there is a panic like this corona thing people go out and buy guns, but its usually the same people just buy more - how many guns do you need? How many guns until you are a hoarder or militia? I have no problem with guns, but not into the gun culture.

That sounds like they are restricted to how the gun was marketed, not just because they made the gun. The law still protects them from liability for someone else's actions with a gun that they made.

Look at how many ads on TV are from Lawyers about specific products. They are licking their chops. But it may not matter according to the wisdom of the weirdo":

"People are dying who have never died before" - Donald J. Trump, March 18, 2020. His non-sense comments are now a daily occurrence.

Chief, what factors do you consider when you label someone as "gun folk"? I don't own a gun but am a believer in the 2nd Amendment. Am I "gun folk"? Are licensed hunters "gun folk"? Are people who own a licensed gun for self defense "gun folk"? Just curious.
