I know not everybody takes this position, but since my kid is not part of this topic I won't talk about him in this thread.

No I said pmail me so I can see him. I don't even know his team or weight class.Don't post it for public view.

I mentioned Coach of the Year to point out that there are actually coaches ( and wrestlers) that know what they are doing down below.

Please point out average kids. I am still learning wrestling. Pmail is your friend. :-)

Jan 25th is my birthday but I will be at that dual. I don't know if Montini is the best team in Illinois this year but I do think they have been considered the best team or program in Illinois overall the last 10 years. But everything is debatable.

Must have missed something and didn't have time to read the entire thread, but when did Montini get bumped up the collegiate level. I'm assuming it's due to the recruiting issues. Are they NAIA, JC, DIII or DII? It can't be DI, and the mods wouldn't let this stay on the College board if it weren't true.

No the debate is why have Montini wrestlers not converted their hs success to college All American and National Championships. As per our website owners orders we as mods are allowed to let threads go sideways a bit as long as everything is fun and light hearted. So far it has been a great thread so we continue on.

How many Montini kids have or are wreslting in College? Actually I would be interested in the total number of Illinois kids wrestling in college this year at all levels?

George Ivanov...has a real good chance to place or win it this year. Nicknamed the Bulgarian Nightmare....won Reno 5-3 with a 5 point move as time expired. Really good match.

I think when you talk about the best wrestlers they are as follows: not in any order

Goebel=football player
Chase Beebe=fighter
Conor Beebe=multiple qualifier
Benefiel=jury still out


Who else stands out as a wrestler who should have been an all american and wasn't? I think we under appreciate how hard it is to wrestle in div 1 and be an aa. We have had a ton of state champs but again who was it that you would say was a lock to be aa? Obviously Mikey and Goebel.
