"When I step on the mat I try to score points & entertain the fans". Offensive points scored 2205.. Offensive points against 32.. Never put on his back.. 97 pins.. 24 TF.. 26 MD.. 16 Dec.. 17 FFT.. 2 ID.. 90% of wins by bonus points.. 93% of wins at State by bonus points.. final 115 matches offensively outscored opponents 1472-2.. never taken down in any state series match in IKWF or IHSA.. some say that's not dominating.. some say not a good mat wrestler.. I disagree.

Murphy beats Schneider 3-0 in the quarters. Pretty good redemption from the finals two years ago I'd say!

Murphy was the aggressor in the 1st and chooses down to start the 2nd with the score 0-0.

Schneider with the ride out and takes a stall at the end of the period.

Schneider chooses neutral to start the 3rd but beyond the first 15 seconds of the period Murphy is again the aggressor on their feet. Murphy is in on the legs a few times but unable to finish.
Schneider hit with another stall to effectively tie match 1-1 (riding time point locked up).
Murphy with late td to win.

If somebody asked me going into that match if 1 wrestler would get a ride out while the other would push the pace to get the only td in the match who would have done which? I would have answered with conviction and been wrong.

            Butler advanced to the semis.

Second time today Murphy beat nationally ranked guys. Mcculley was ranked #14 and Schneider was ranked #19. He has #4 James Green in the semifinals tomorrow!

Is Paul Rands at 197 an Illinois guy also. Is it who I am thinking of. Wrestled at Northwestern also. Blaise has been having a great year. A couple of his matches are on Flo. Nice to see Rasche still going strong. All 3 of these guys have wrestled for Illinois Inferno at the Disney Duals. Sounds like a good reason to put the band back together this year.

Paul Rands is an IL guy. Wrestled in high school at Cary Grove. He went to Northwestern for a year and then did his Mormon mission. Upon finishing that he transferred to the Naval Academy. This is second year there. Last year he placed at some open tournaments in his first year back on the mat in a couple years.

I would have been wrong too. I was never a fan of Murphy's style but this might be changing in college?
