OK, at first glance, this looks a bit off. First of all, how if Augustana ranked and Elmhurst not? I didn't think Auggie was returning much this year (besides MacMurry) and Elmhurst has killed them the last 2 years and returns 3 national qualifiers. Next, I see a few key omissions unless there has been some news I haven't heard. Where is Dustin Doctor from North Central at 197? He was an AA last year and should only be a juinior this season. Also, where is Tom Gagen from Elmhurst at 125? He destroyed Seth Flodeen from Augsburg (currently ranked 8th) in the Regional Championship and lost by 1 point in the match to make him an AA. Also, Kenny Thomas of Elmhurst could be ranked at 149 as well, and if Kastel is returning this year, he should definitely be ranked at 133 since he defeated both Sheets (#3) and Johnson (#5) last year before his season ended. Something just seems a little off with regards to the Illinois wrestlers to me.

Also, who is Tim Miller from North Central at 174 lbs? I thought Gabe Yuoel was their 74 pounder???

          Tranfer

I think Miller is a transfer from Ohio Northern. A quick look and I found he was 30 - 5 and a NQ as a freshman. At the D3 Nationals he went 0-2.

Not sure about Yuoel. Wasn't he at 57 last year?

Doctor should be ranked. I'm not sure why that was overlooked. Gagan will probably be at 133 with Oster at 125, which explains his absence. Who would you bump to rank Thomas? All 8 guys were national qualifiers last year and six were all americans. Kastel probably ought to be ranked once he proves himself both the starter and able to wrestle. Tough to rank someone who has never been to nationals and missed most of last year. He and Thomas could both place this year, though Thomas will again have to wrestle well to qualify. By the way, I'd expect to see Youel at 184 with Miller at 174 for NC.

Also, I'm not sure how many know this, but Gagan was winning by 3 points (or so) with 12 seconds left in the match he lost in the AA round. Whistle blew, the other guy walked in grabbed him, and tossed him on his head for back points. He definitely should have placed.

Generally speaking though, I think the Illinois schools need to keep doing well to get a better reputation and thus influence the rankings. Elmhurst and NC are new to this whole multiple All-Americans thing.

I heard North Central is loaded at 57, 65, 74 and 84. A lot of kids looking for a spot.

Who does North Central have at 165? They weren't that strong there last year. They weren't bad, but nothing like "loaded."

Gagan is not at Elmhurst anymore. Kenny Thomas will be at 141 and Jeff Kastel at 149 this season.

I'm hearing Doctor may not be back this year. I don't have any solid info, but there's a reason he's not ranked, and I this may be the case. Maybe he'll appear second semester or something. I imagine there's been some turmoil at NC since they have now had three coaches in three years, and it might result in some shakeups of the lineup.

I was at a North Central Football game eairlier this fall and he was there working concessions with the rest of the team. When I talked to the AD it sounded like he was still going to wrestle.

Really, how do you know all this stuff? What happened to Gagan? Who's going 133? Got any more info? Thanks!
