  • SJO Regional - decided by 1/2 pt

Can't get much (any?) closer than this one.....

Oakwood led LeRoy 165 to 160.5 going into the 285 1st and 3rd place matches. It was Heyworth vs Westville in the1st place match, so no points available there for either team.

LeRoy had their freshman 285, August Osborne, wrestling for 3rd vs the 285 from Judah Christian who had pinned him in the quarters in 1:09.

Osborne wins by fall in 0:51 to advance to Sectionals and give LeRoy the needed 5 points to defeat Oakwood 165.5 to 165.

Can't imagine too many Regionals have been won in that fashion.

In the Mahomet Regional in 2a, a Bloomington kid got DQ'd in the finals, the team ended up losing all 20 of the team pts he would've earned. Mahomet ended up winning the Regional by 19.5 pts over Bloomington, that's gotta sting for that kid and the Bloomington team

      Wow. What happened?

It also means that he doesn’t move on, correct? Meaning his career is over since he’s a senior.

Correct he is done. It looked like a very hard/dirty crossface in the 3rd period after the Champaign kid took control of the match followed by a headbutt. This was after he was warned once or twice earlier for questionable behavior.

Thanks; got to be some sort of history between those 2.

          Nice legacy he leaves behind.

Remember this is a kid. To define a legacy by one moment of poor decision and control might be a bit too harsh. He was an aggressive wrestler, but having a team that competed against him several times in the past, there was never anything about him that I considered dirty...

            Just saying....
So when you say psychosomatic, you mean like he could start a fire with his thoughts?

You must not have paid attention a lot then, we have plenty of moments caught on tape over the years and when talking with other coaches, no one was surprised it occurred. Officials take notice of the athletes that take cheap shots and this one was well known to do so.
