  • Top teams in AAA....

Given what I saw today at Lockport, and some of the recent results, I have to put Providence and Nequa Valley back in the picture near the top. I think that with Klimara in the line-up, Providence wins the Geneseo Tournament over Minooka. After OPRFs demolition of #10 Hinsdale Central, 46-12 (which included a FF at 285 one of only 3 wins for HC) I believe they are still the solid #1. As well as Providence and Nequa Valley are wrestling right now I think they are #2 and #3, with Lockport, Plainfield Central, Minooka, and of course GBN which is a pretty solid top 7. The sad thing is that given the regional and sectional assignments ONLY ONE of the teams between Providence, Nequa Valley, Lockport, Plainfiled Central, Minooka, and West Aurora will make it to the State Dual Team Championship.

Don't forget Minooka also had 2 studs out in Brian Bokoski and Marcus Rangel and still won

Here is my issue with your the statement that you think that with Klimara in the line-up they would have beaten Minooka.
When Providence beat Minooka no one came on here and said that with Bokoski and Rangel in the line-up that they think Minooka would have beaten Providence. The bottom line is they weren't in the line-up and Providence won, today Klimara wasn't there and Minooka won.
That's not to say that Providence isn't a top team but please let's stop with the excuses.

Neuqua beat them because their football players weren't back, Minooka beat them because Klimara wasn't in the line-up.

      It's always something.

On the contrary...I think with them in the line-up Minooka would have beaten them. But Haney from Providence did upset Warczynski, right..or was he wrestling a weight up?

Actually there football guys were back at Nequa, though they wrestled on three days of practice, not enough time to get any timing down or conditioning in. They weren't back at Conant, which certainly effected the results. Even at Minooka one of Providence starters was clearly wrestling injured, and he wasn't at Geneseo. What counts in the end is who is there at the end. It is a long season in a brutal sport. People just speculate its fun. As far as folks examining the results and looking for clues. Years from now when Minooka has won 5 state championships and made it to the team semis for the umpteenth time, people will speculate as to why they didn't win this tournament or were suprised in this or that dual. With Ruetiger at the helm and his assistance workin for him, with Rosovich and Capodice supplyin help with a feeder program as well as a fine IESA feeder program it could happen. It has however already happened at Providence, and the Keith Healy and his boys are comin back, they won't quit, they'll keep working, they'll peak at the right time and it's gonna be war! Baton down the hatches cap'n, it's clobberin time.

Still sad but, TWO of these teams will make it to State Dual Team Championship.

From IHSA.org: "Four (4) teams will compete in each of four Sectionals in each class. There will be no sectional champion. Eight (8) teams shall compete in each of the three (3) classes. A random draw determines the sectional pairings and the State Final pairings."

Don't you just love excuse making..if so and so...blah..blah ...blah...don't pull your straps up if you are not ready...this why teams need depth...because someone is gonna get hurt...or play football...or not make weight....personally I am not trying to hear the excuses..."you brought that ugly girl to the dance son"..."Now dance with her"

It's all about respect. I don't expect people to be throwing respect at the feet of Minooka. I do however expect that when then win a tournament people are not throwing up buts and asterisks. I know, I know Minooka doesn't have a State Medal but there isn't a team in the state that has a 2009 State Medal. Past performance is not necessarily an indicator of future performance.
Providence can fill a room with medals for all I care, it does not give them the right to make excuses or have someone make excuses for them. I don't care what they would have done if their line-up was perfect and I don't care what they would have done if the stars had aligned and Santa Clause really existed. I want to know what they did do!

As far as the duel I would never make the statement that Minooka would have beaten Providence if Boko and Rangel were in the line-up. Who knows what that would have effected? Providence may have changed who they sent out where. You never know and I wouldn't waste my time disrespecting Providence with the what-ifs. I think Minooka would appreciate the same courtesy and respect.

Congrats for your boy...was that your point that you wanted me to know? We don't win everytime-just most of the time. The real question is if your boy wrestled that same Twister 10 times in ten finals could he win the majority of the time? Here is another NEWS FLASH just for you geo...a Twister just won OW at Tulsa last night.(and we had 3 champs too!)...now that is a real tournament....were you in Tulsa were the studs are

And now back to the topic of the thread.... I hear you cementjob...respect is earned...or as we say on the low end..."gangstered"...

Yes Warcynski was up a weight... normally he wrestles 152 and weighed in at 152. It was a strategy thing to bump him up and it backfired.

I assume you are talking about Walsh at 145. The injury did not occur until the 1st of the two 30 second overtimes after the Freshman Kalvin Hill escaped and took down the Junior returning state qualifier Brian Walsh. The injury occured as Kalvin was taking Brian Down, so I am saying Kalvin gained the lead before the injury happened. - Please don't use that as an excuse.

The IHSA in their infinite wisdom has conveniently done the "Random Draw" and placed the Romeoville Regional Winner(Providence & Lockport) head to head with the W. Aurora Winner(Neuqua, Plainfield central, Minooka) at the Sectional round of wrestling. So YES only 1 of these teams will make it to the Elite Eight. The other team representing the sectional will come from a Dual between the Moline and Edwardsville regional winners.
