It is to Eddie Klimara's credit as a wrestler that his getting pinned became such a big deal. It is rare for a freshman, even at 103, to appear so far ahead of the field that his losing, especially by pin seems so remarkable.
At the same time kudos go out to Nicholas Drendel for acheiving something that no other 103 in ILL has come close to being able to do.

As i agree drendel did a great job, i dont see him reaching the podium this year, i think thier are some tough wrestlers in his side of the bracket. Just in his quarter is Matt Ornoff, Bob Gaverick, and Eddie Greco. The three people i see placing from that side of the bracket are Ornoff, Gaverick and Klimara, with Klimara being in the finals against elmore. After seeing Elmore for the first time this weekend i cannot wait to see him and klimara face off. It will be a great match and hopefully a close exciting one. I will truly be dissappointed if that final doesnt occur as i was hoping to see that final at sectionals but as we all know Nicholas Drendel wrestled very tough and pinned klimara to throw a wrench in seeing the match i wanted to.

i am sure Eddie had enough of a hard time dealing with the loss, i am sure once he qualified it was water under the bridge. good wrestlers learn from there mistakes and i am sure that's what he is doing. at this time of year all you have to do is survive until the next week. i am sure he will be in top form for the state tournament.

I think Drendall did a great job. and I think he will place in the top 6 for sure. and also its just a youtube vid. I mean some 1 post the blanton vs spangler vid last yr at state in the semis. yea eddie kilimara got pinned it happens so yaaaaaaaaa

omg this is such bs. i cant believe anyone would post a video of someone losing a wrestling match on the internet especially on the front page. That is ridiculous and i cant believe you guys can sleep at night. I hope the person who put this wrestling match on the homepage realizes what hes done letting people watch someone lose a wrestling match, that should never happen. And omg shame on the drendels. They should have interrupted the hundreds of people that would have been begging to see the match and asked admin to take it off. i cant believe them being happy that their kid won a great match against a really great wrestler. How do they sleep at night. actually how does nicholas sleep at night knowing he pinned klimara. that is terrible off him. and everyone whose watched this video , how do you sleep at night knowing that you just had to sit through to endure and watch a great wrestling match. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!..

seriously fawn, do you realize how ridiculous you sound? have you seen a wrestling match in the past 10 years where no one lost? (i think they use to have ties sometime in history didnt they? if they didnt im just an idiot sorry) but fawn, why dont you just grow a pair and realize the publicity that comes with being an all star wrestler like klimara is. Im guessing you were never good enough to have someone be happy after they beat you like many wrestlers that compete in Illinois everyday. Everyone is going to take shots at you because of the big sign on your back that says "i am a really good wrestler, if you beat me you should be really proud of yourself" because thats exactly what happens when someone beats a wrestler like klimara. I cant believe there are pansies on this website that are mad because this video was posted. Seriously get over it and stop your dam crying.

I still see him as a kid. A kid who had a setback trying to do something he loves. Something that a lot of folks on here give him grief for. More than he deserves. Take nothing away from what Drendel accomplished. He'll have that for the rest of is life. Same with Eddie's misstep. There are plenty of good ways to share video with out of town family without them somehow ending up on the Illinoismatmen.com front page. It wasn't put on the front page because it was a great match. It was put on there because Eddie lost. I'd rather not subject a 14-15 year old to that treatment unless you can't avoid it. Same reason you don't show the dead bodies in a car accident. Yet that's what everybody e-mails each other pictures of sometimes. Post the match, everybody wanted to see it myself included but front page? Way overkill. Is this what every good wreatling kid in Illinois can expect every time they make a mistake? Is it too late to sign up for basketball?

Let's keep the sport in perspective, losing a wrestling match---dead bodies in a car accident????

By the way, it was a great match, it was exciting and intense and unexpected. If the Super Bowl last year between the Patriots and the Giants was a great game, which it was, then this can be and was a great match.

drendel was on his "A" game. no biggie. he's tough. but as far as klimera getting "caught"?, that was the first time he got laid out. he shouldn't have been surprised the 2nd time it happened. i look forward to a good tournament from the both of them.

I don't see any problems with posting it to YOUtube, and putting it on a thread, but it is not appropriate to put it on the homepage of Illinoismatmen. We don't do it for others, but since Admin runs the site, and Jaguar is a chosen moderator, we don't have much control over that.

I like both families, but I just think it wasn't in good taste. Let it go, Nicholas impresses me tremendously as does Eddie, but keep it in a thread only.

I just want to clear the air. Although I am a moderator on this site, I don't control it and have nothing to do with the video being posted on a thread or put on the home page. The main reason I hesitated putting it on Youtube was not out of a concern for Eddie Kilmara, though I wish him no ill will whatsoever, but out of a concern for my own son. I don't want my kids being the center of attention. I don't want to put that pressure on them. I don't want him being distracted with all the hype. And, I don't want him having to deal with other peoples' cruel comments if he fails to live up to any hype that this one match (out of hundreds in his life) may create. But, it is what it is. We watched the video of Lee Munster pinning Clayton Kendall this year. That was a big story at the time. It isn't just Eddie Klimara who will feel the repercussions of all the hype that has been caused by the match, but I guess that is the price of having a good match, or of being a good wrestler, or being a state champ, or whatever fame or notoriety comes. I hope that people will remember that for both of them when they make comments in the future.

It's over... it happened... congrats to Drendel, great win. For people to think that it's disrespectful to put a video up of a wrestling match is stupid. If anything it's giving respect to Eddie, he's a great wrestler and a great kid, he got upset and people want to see the match. When your a high profile wrestler you've gotta deal with the publicity (good or bad), I'm sure that he could care less if a video of him losing is on line or not, because right now he's getting ready to do downstate and win a state title; And I can guarantee you that he's gonna come to state with fire coming out of his you know what. So good luck to you Eddie, your a great young wrestler with a long and promising career ahead of you, KEEP GOING!

klimara was not "caught" he was thrown to his back with great technique from drendle. then he escaped and again...with great technique drendle put him straight to his back and pinned him. usually if you ae going to say someone got caught, it was bad luck and they got put to their back and couldnt get out. klimara had another chance and dredle put him right back on his back. and i dont think drendles dad is doing anything wrong by posting the match on youtube so his son can see the match. matches where people get pinned are always on youtube and matmen. it is a wrestling website for crying out lound. the wrestling community loves to see big upsets and surprising events. i thank whoever put the video up and i say best of luck to both wrestlers at the state tournament.
