...and none of this has anything to do with team champions...

If OPRF gets titles from Rundell and Brooks, and both Early and Mahomes get into the 3rd place matches...nobody will beat out OPRF; Cam Harris and Michael Woulfe are potential placers at 132 and 160. Based on their draws, it will be tough for Gahagan and Ariola.

Interesting to note that OPRF would have won the Individual State tournament in both 2009 and 2010...the 2010 team set the record for the new 3A class with 3 champs and a 3rd place.

I would also mention that in 2A while Marmion Academy lost to Montini by 1 point in the regionals, the Cadets absolutely dominated the 2A Individual state tournament by winning 5 titles...Jiminez, Cortez, Fisher, Whitford, and Brill if I recall correctly...

Brooks is a heavy favorite to win 82. I like rundell at least to make it to the finals, but cullen may have something to say about it. 106 is gonna be fun. I do think early will place high maybe 3rd or possibly higher. Mahomes will be lucky to make the third place match. I think max murph is highly probable final. Mahomes is gonna have to fight and claw through a top heavy weight to even make 3rd place match.

I read your post about his match vs max. I hope for his sake he uses it as fuel for state.

Sandburg-Robertson, Pique, Holler high placers, Pellegrino bros, Cook, Garcia will all win matches and could place

OPRF-Brooks heavy favorite, with Rundell, Mahomes, Early with high placing potential. Have a good supporting cast that will win matches and possibly place as well

Lockport- With 2 heavy favorites in McMurtry and Johnson, will definitely score lots of points. Strelcyzk and Rossi will win matches and probably place as well.

I'd say pick one of GBN/Sandburg/OPRF to win, with Lockport behind the others

    1. I would guess GBN might have a slight advantage because they have two favorites in their respective 152 and 120. They also have a handful of other potential placers.

    2. Sandburg second with Robertson a favorite to win, Holler and pique with a real good shot to place high. Pique has a chance to win it all. Also a few more who could sneak on the podium.

3a. Marist has an excellent shot with duda at 113 to take home a bracket. Would be sweet justice after the Pique slam incident last year. They should also have a couple placers if they wrestle well at the upper weights and could potentially surprise at some lower weights. Andriotti could grab a high spot on the podium at 152. Marist did finish ahead of OPRF at De La Salle Sectional "unofficial" scoring with only 12 wrestler. Oprf had 14 but they only lost by a few points behind Marist and by around 12 to Sandburg.

3b. Oprf has a favorite at 182 with Brooks. Rundell could win too if he puts together a good run. Also a couple guys who could place if they wrestle well. Early has a real good shot to place the way he has been taking to guys. They did finish behind Marist at De but did have one more champion. IMO too close to call who would finished ahead of each other.

    5. Lockport has Johnson at 195 and McMurtry at 160 who have outstanding odds to leave assembly hall with a bracket sheet. Rossi could make a run at a metal, giving the Porters a chance of jumping OPRF/Marist at 3,4 or both. By the way, I dont know what a Porter is but it might be one of the coolest mascot names in the state.

Could Sneak in top five with some luck
    Barrington, Harlem, Mt. Carmel Caravan

Just predicitions and anyone can and will win. We know from experience some "lock" is gonna lose and someone is gonna pull the big upset. Should be a good run in Champaign. GL to all wrestlers.
