As with most preseason rankings, some of the kid's weights in Rob's rankings were wrong. Nothing against Rob, but he is not God so it is quite possible that he got it wrong. I'll take what the kid says over a preaseason ranking and speculation on this one.

Good thing Rob didn't list him at 106 cause if he decided to wrestle he would be obligated to make the weight.

That's funny because I talked to some people in his camp over the summer and before the season and they said 182 was his ideal weight if he could come back healthy. But what do I know, I'm not Obi-Won Kenobi and I don't live in a galaxy, far, far away...wherever that is.

Nobody know's what you know or where you are because nobody know's who you are.

That is new information. Before it was "I think Congenie is the best 182 in the state" and "IBW had him ranked preseason at 182" as your stated reasoning for putting Congenie at 182. Those statements were far less convincing than the statement made by the wrestler himself.

I could not find IBW's preseason rankings but I do have Intermat's preseason rankings. Intermat has proven to be as least as competent as Sherrill on HS wrestling. Based on their rankings my IL All Star team would have to include:

          113 Garelli
120 McGhee (as a back up)
          160 Schneider
170 Hill 9 (and if he didn't wrestle Reel)
          195 Congenie/Johnson/Harrah

As I posted above, I think the match-ups vs OH, PA, MN, CA, FL, and IA could be interesting...or just against Blair Academy; when you get down to it, it would take an IL All-Star team to beat either Blair or St Eds...

Point is...that win doesn't elevate Jackson to superstardom just yet...he's arguably second best in IL yet. I do hope to see him in college though, and I'm certain he'll get signed too, and that's good news!!!!

Anyway, I am also amazed at the lack of respect for Klimara in this thread. I would be surprised if anyone in the nation could beat him, yet he has been picked to lose 2 out of 2 matches already in this thread!! Maybe that would happen, but that's why you wrestle...instead of prognosticate.
I guess you have not seen Jackson wrestle much this year. Most of the time he just takes kids down and cuts them. When he is on top, he does look for a cradle quite a bit. I am not saying he is known as a cradler, but calling him a non-cradler is highly questionable.

I do agree about Klimara though. The kid has placed high every year at Fargo. He has preformed at a high level at the Junior duals too. Also, look at some of his folkstyle wins this year at his weight over Hathaway and Devos.

I agree 100% that Eddie is the BEST 126lber in this state...my point was that in an All-Star dual vs OH or PA, he is not going to beat their top kids, like Dean Heil (OH) or Gulibon (PA). If you read my earlier post, it would take an IL all-star team just to beat St Eds (OH), and from 170-285 we probably LOSE 2 of those matches; Brooks gets a win maybe even bonus at 182 over Abounnader and I give Marchok the win over Walz at 220....but we get killed at 170 vs Martin, lose 285 vs Kuhar, and Johnson vs Suvak would be a close one. The problem is that team is SO loaded...and if you add in St Paris Graham to the Ohio match-up it gets even tougher.

I have never seen Guiblion wrestle, but I have seen Heil. I disagree with saying that he would not beat Heil. IMO that match is a toss-up. I am not saying he would win every time, but would not be surprised if he did.

I have seen both Klimara and Heil wrestle numerous times. I don't think either Eddie...or Sabatello for that matter...would beat Heil. Close match? Absolutely.

In the upset Hall pulled off in the Clash, he was so beat-up he was lost for the rest of the season to Apple Valley...and St Eds still beat Apple Valley.

I am just saying Eddie's credentials says enough. Fargo Champ. Four time state finalists, two time champ. To say Eddie has no shot of beating Heil is a big statement though. I am hoping to see this match sometime in the freestyle season at some point.

IBW had Congenie ranked at 182 in the preseason. I can send you the issue if you would like. Either way I'm done with this stupid argument. My opinion is that he is the best kid we could send out at 182. Nothing anyone says will change that, not even a Jedi mind trick.

What does my anonymity have to do with this anyway? I don't come on here and bash kids like others do. I just have an opinion like anyone else, just like you and everyone else on here.

Intermat is a great resource, but competent? I don't think they are all that competent on Illinois wrestlers, IMO. McMurtry is a great example. I assume he was never recognized by Intermat because he didn't wrestle FS or GR, but Intermat finally recognized him when he beat 2 of Intermat's highly ranked kids (Koethe, Kingsley). You can go to Intermat right now and you'll see several IL State Champs at 2A and 3A not even in the top 20, and that is hard to understand since it seems everyone agrees that IL is one of the top HS wrestling states.

I tend to pay more attention to The Open Mat rankings...

That is why I said it would be a close match. Eddie would be competative vs any nationally ranked kid at 126lbs and THAT is a bold statement because 126lbs is a LOADED weight class...I didn't even mention Brandon Jeske or Rossi Bruno.
