Take a look at how they both wrestle: Howell stalls a lot (and he is very good at not getting called for stalling) and waits for his opponent to make a mistake. Gore tries mostly headlocks and doesn't do much else. I can think of two of Howell's losses this past year where he probably shouldn't have lost, but his opponent didn't make a mistake and I believe he lost both matches 3-1. Katzovitz from Hinsdale Central and Ambrose from Providence. I like Gore especially if they wrestle more than once. Howell pinned Cameron then lost to him at state, Howell beat Denne pretty bad then Denne beat him pretty bad at sectionals, see a pattern? Sears top 5? Hull, Hordowicz, and Condon qualifying? Your out of your mind. I know Egan is good, but come on. If thats the Marist lineup then they will have glaring weaknesses from 138-152 and a very beatable wrestler at 132. Hickey top 3? He had a good state tournament, but also got pinned by a very average Reavis heavyweight who didn't even qualify. Anyone who thinks any team has a chance to place 11 wrestlers in 3A either doesnt know much about wrestling or is drinking too much kool-aid. I think 7 St. Rita wrestlers have a shot to place with 2 or 3 champs, but no way that many are going to maybe 2 placers and 1 champ. Mt. Carmel will have some wrestlers not named Brill or Denne who could place, but those are their two best bets. Lets not forget we are talking about the state tuournament not the chicagoland tournament, there are more than a handful of wrestlers that you've never even heard of that will grab medals.
On a side-note that 2003 St. Rita team that had 8 placers would handle this Marist team using the old or new weights. Im sure even Egan would agree with that
Not that it really matters but Benoit did not get taken down and cradled. He chose down in the second period of a 0-0 match and got cradled.

As far as Benoits next match he lost, he got caught, and pinned, it happens to the best of them. if that match goes the distance, Benoit wins, oh well. I'll put $ 200.00 a piece, on the fact that Benoit and Howell both place this year, are you in ?? in fact, I think they both place top 3.

As far as Pruitt /Gore goes, Pruitt beat Gore, at the Clash, and Gore beat Pruitt at regionals. They were supposed to wrestle at state, but only one man showed up to the dance, and that mans name is Pruitt. Gore knew he couldn't beat Pruitt, so he forefitted . Gore is injury prone....As far as Gore beating Howell, that's thimply ludicrous ...cmon ccl, if gore moves up to 220 to wrestle Howell, he gets majored, or pinned.

    106- Hanik..Fr. - IKWF-runner up in 2011, and 4th in 2012...he has a good chance to place as a freshman.

106 - Obrien...FR. - IKWF - 3rd in state 2012 100lbs....he lost to the state champ, and wrestled all the way back...tough as nails...he has a good chance of placing, as a freshman

113 - Kasper - SOPH....had a bad state tournament, but ended up placing 6th IHSA. Will place top 4 next season.

120 - Duda - JR. - state champ next season.

126 - Mario levelle JR.- state qualifier last season, won his first match down state, then lost to cortez, then English 6-4. English went on to take 5 th i believe.

132 - Sears - SR.- The most technically sound wrestler on the team. With a good off season, and some serious weight training, he places top 5 next season.

138 Hull - SOPH. - a couple time IKWF placer, he could qualify this year.

145 - Hordowicz - SR. never stops attacking...could qualify this year.

152 - Condon - SOPH. - a 2 time runner up in IKWF, I believe. I know he was a runner up in 8th grade for Vittum. Tough kid. Will qualify for state, and may place.

    160 - Andreotti - JR. - top 2 next season...probably a state champ.

170 - A. Benoit - SOPH. - State champ next season - I don't see anybody coming up from 160, or staying at 170 who can beat him.

182 - E. Benoit - SR. - places top 3 next season. Can win it if he has a good state tournament.

195 - Pruitt - SR. - 4th last year, he places top 3 next season.

220 - Howell - SR. - Places top 3 next season, and can win it if he has a good tournament.

285 - Hickey - SR. - 6 th last season, Places top 3 next season.I'm sure he's pounding the weights for football, he likes to lift him some weights.

Mitchell D. is right, I have absolutely no affiliation with the Marist team. Everything I say regarding the Marist team is pure speculation and personal opinion, coming from a fan, and nothing more than a fan. Please don't let my bravado, and earnestness about backing the team, and making predictions about the team, lead you to believe, or think that I am affiliated in any way shape or form, with the team, or that I speak for the team. I don't have any inside info, etc... Obviously, I am a fan of the Marist team, and the thread is about predictions about who will be at what weight class etc.. so i gave my opinion, and that's all it was, opinion, from observing. Me and CCL go back and fourth sometimes, and that's all this was about, friendly banter, and personal opinion.

    Fandomonia!

2 incoming freshman projected to be at the same weight both with a good chance of placing? 11 placers?! Saying a kid didn't show up to a state match because he didn't think he could win?

Since when did the Montini fans switch their allegiance to Marist.

Marist will be as dominant as their 1987 team - bank on it.

They may not achieve as high a national ranking as that squad but they'll be undefeated in IL.
