I understand Benoits bad luck in having to face Brooks right away, but the match against Proviso West he didnt get "caught" since when is getting taken down and getting cradled getting caught? Thurman was just better that day and he didn't need a gas tank. Gore beating Howell ludacris? Take a look at how they both wrestle: Howell stalls a lot (and he is very good at not getting called for stalling) and waits for his opponent to make a mistake. Gore tries mostly headlocks and doesn't do much else. I can think of two of Howell's losses this past year where he probably shouldn't have lost, but his opponent didn't make a mistake and I believe he lost both matches 3-1. Katzovitz from Hinsdale Central and Ambrose from Providence. I like Gore especially if they wrestle more than once. Howell pinned Cameron then lost to him at state, Howell beat Denne pretty bad then Denne beat him pretty bad at sectionals, see a pattern? Sears top 5? Hull, Hordowicz, and Condon qualifying? Your out of your mind. I know Egan is good, but come on. If thats the Marist lineup then they will have glaring weaknesses from 138-152 and a very beatable wrestler at 132. Hickey top 3? He had a good state tournament, but also got pinned by a very average Reavis heavyweight who didn't even qualify. Anyone who thinks any team has a chance to place 11 wrestlers in 3A either doesnt know much about wrestling or is drinking too much kool-aid. I think 7 St. Rita wrestlers have a shot to place with 2 or 3 champs, but no way that many are going to maybe 2 placers and 1 champ. Mt. Carmel will have some wrestlers not named Brill or Denne who could place, but those are their two best bets. Lets not forget we are talking about the state tuournament not the chicagoland tournament, there are more than a handful of wrestlers that you've never even heard of that will grab medals.
On a side-note that 2003 St. Rita team that had 8 placers would handle this Marist team using the old or new weights. Im sure even Egan would agree with that

I should have said 2 of their best wrestlers. Let's put E. Benoits sectional in perspective. Sam Brooks doesn't wrestle in the finals of his regional, because he's injured, and he takes 2nd. So Benoit ends up having to wrestle Brooks first match in sectionals, because of this, bum luck ! As far as Benoits next match he lost, he got caught, and pinned, it happens to the best of them. if that match goes the distance, Benoit wins, oh well. I'll put $ 200.00 a piece, on the fact that Benoit and Howell both place this year, are you in ?? in fact, I think they both place top 3.

They were supposed to wrestle at state, but only one man showed up to the dance, and that mans name is Pruitt. Gore knew he couldn't beat Pruitt, so he forefitted . Gore is injury prone....As far as Gore beating Howell, that's thimply ludicrous ...cmon ccl, if gore moves up to 220 to wrestle Howell, he gets majored, or pinned.

106- Hanik..Fr. - IKWF-runner up in 2011, and 4th in 2012...he has a good chance to place as a freshman.

Everything I say regarding the Marist team is pure speculation and personal opinion, coming from a fan, and nothing more than a fan. They may not achieve as high a national ranking as that squad but they'll be undefeated in IL.

Sandburg did win a match from 160-285 last year. Former Marist great Bill Gore beat Pruitt at the regional and him injury defaulting at state is the reason Pruitt placed. Ill take him over Pruitt or Howell and I'll take Robertson who took 2nd in state over either Benoit
