I have crowd funded many projects over the years. While I'm by no means an expert, I sent out a few Facebook and message board posts and raised the money before the event. Maybe you would have done it differently, maybe it would have been better? But regardless, mission accomplished.

This is a lesson in why you don't just listen to the people who talk the loudest or complain the most. I didn't even check, but responded to complainers on here, assuming things weren't going well. Good reminder to stay diligent. Thank you sir.

And you're right, there isn't a right or wrong way to do it. Only effective and ineffective. Glad there will be a video.

You probably should have spoken to someone in fundraising or marketing before putting this out there. I do quite a bit of both and would have advised you a bit differently. It's hard to crowd fund an idea like this, especially at what seems like premium price.

Pre-sales probably should have been your starting point.

He tries his hardest to showcase Illinois wrestling and let's just give the man a big thumbs up for that. How do you know he didn't talk to someone in fundraising or marketing? And what was hard about this? He made the go fund me page, a few posts on matmen, waited a few weeks and enough money was raised. Didn't seem that hard to me.
