Extremely well run tournament. Winners of each match are announced when the matches in that weight are completed so you can keep your bracket updated. Very impressed by Devin Donovan(WN) 160 and Brad Gross(MRM) 152. Donovan won against last year's MVP, Dylan Geick. Gross defeated Ameen Hamden, who looked terrific in scoring a tech in his semi-final.
Also, very impressed by the 2 106, freshman in the final with Kai Conway of Barrington defeating Nick Minito(PLC) 6-4 in overtime.

Mick and ILwrestle ALWAYS run a great tournament. When I was coaching I pitched them to my AD. He said, why, you coaches can run it. Now mind you this is Proviso West that has one of the top basketball tourneys in the nation. They hire like 50 people, some to just open and shut locker rooms for the teams. I tried to explain to them. Imagine the basketball tournament that instead of just making the brackets and advance winners. But instead, every kid on every team faces eachother. And keep team score for that. They tried to keep us out of the school during their tournament. One time I told the team to just follow me single file right through the door. No eye contact, don't say a word. A guy working the door said, "you know nobody wants you here?" I said I know and we are practicing anyway. One time they started talking about charging us with trespassing. Great job guys.
Always support your local wrestling tournament concession stands!!!

                Daily Herald Article

In case you missed today's great Daily Herald re-cap of the Moore-Prettyman, here is a link to the article:

Mike Garofola has been covering high school wrestling for the northern suburbs now for over 15 years. Coaches respect him highly and I'm proud to call him a great friend. Thanks Mike for your dedication to our beloved sport!
