  • Top Illinois Ranked Kids don't get top seeds in Minnesota Christmas Tournament

Brackets are out for the Minnesota Christmas tournament and top Illinois ranked kids like Travis Ford-Melton and Carlos Champagne got shafted for top seeds in the tournament despite an overwhelming better resume. Should be an interesting tournament.

Coach Jordan must not have been wearing his best "dress sweats" to the seed meeting, those things demand a certain level of respect!

      Paper tiger.

Travis got 2 seed behind Cashman. You could flip flop them and nobody would shout but it's good as it is also. Carlos is an excellent wrestler but hasn't put so much effort into traveling to kick butt, so when it comes to bracket placements at major events he'll be middle of the pack. He's unfortunate though (or fortunate imo) to be on RBY's side. Can't argue much with Gliva as 2nd seed either. Kordell is top seed.

i havent seen the brackets yet .....as for Tford he recentlty got thumped by Teske and Vazquez the only reason he is #2 on flo is because they didnt watch any wrestling other than fargo and S32 until ironman ...who was seeded above him?

RBY seeded #1 over Carlos is not a surprise, can you say 4 fargo stop sign's and #11 P4P per Flo. This is a good time for Carlos to show he should be up there in rankings, big fan of his.

TFM is going to have his hands full with Cashman. #4 at 120lbs coming down to 113lbs. Think the right guys got the #1's today but rooting for both these IL wrestlers.

Champagne lost to the #6 seed (8th grader) and then defaulted (injured pride) in the wrestlebacks. Sounds like his original #5 seed may have been generous.

I am not a fan of complaining about things beyond your control. Seeding is one of them. I don't see that anybody didn't get something they should have. Norfleet was a No. 1 seed. Ford-Melton's side wasn't really that much tougher than McKee's - I thought the wrestler that might cause the most trouble was Njos, and Ripplinger beat him badly before he even got to Ford-Melton.

126 was a tough weight class. Manville is the kind of kid you have to beat if you're going to place. I'll bet the Anoka coaches weren't doing cartwheels about having to face Bravo-Young in the second round, either. If Champagne had wrestled any consolation bracket matches, I don't think he'd have gotten past LeMair.

When it's your first time in a tournament this big, you have to prove yourself first. If you think you're underseeded, use it as motivation. If you wind up winning it after all, then feel free to complain about it all you want.
