Looks like the National Federation approved the two-piece singlet.

    That's not all

    Also:

    1) flying squirrel is now illegal

    2) you can now pin your opponent or earn near fall with his shoulders out of bounds

    3) no drinking water before stepping on the scale

    4) referee cannot stand behind the wrestlers to start from referee's position

Ok--I get the first 2 but why #3 and when has the Ref ever stood behind the wrestlers from Referee's position? Never seen that before.....

          #3 drinking water

This only applies if you have stepped on the scale and are too light, you cannot step off, drink something, and have your second attempt. Or drink something before you step on the other available scales. Same for too heavy, you can't take off something (glasses, etc) or get a quick haircut or whatever.

Once you step on the scale for the first check you cannot do anything before second attempt except step off and step on.

I saw it at Folkstyle Nationals (or was it Preseason Nationals?) in Cedar Falls last year. After 3 false starts from the ref standing in the normal position, he walked behind the wrestlers and got a clean start on the 4th try.

No one ever got hurt from either of these. Over reach.

Apparently there is a enough of a problem in enough of the country around people doing things between first and second scale step ons that the NFHS felt this was necessary.
