  • Regional and Sectional sites

Since this is the first official day of the season and the IHSA has yet to release the sites for Regionals and Sectionals, does anyone have any inside info on where these will be located?

Just from looking around on different schools' IL 8 to 18 schedule pages it looks like Bolingbrook and Joliet Central have listed that they are hosting Sectionals this year.

Seems strange since these schools have historically been in the same Sectional in the past.

Anyone know any other confirmed locations?

Unlikely. My guess is they will be going to Argo. Just based on last year. To send Montini to GBN you would have to take somebody out from last year's GBE regional.
All of those schools are west of Montini.

Do not forget that off of the top of my head both St. Rita and Richards have gone up to AAA. Simeon is the only team I can think of from that same area dropping back to AA. I am sure there are a few others throughout the State that due to enrollment their class has changed. Previous year is usually a good barometer but not always the case when all is said and done.

GBE is closer to Bolingbrook than Montini

First off GBE and Montini are like 2 miles apart and secondly when does the IHSA care about how close you are?

Do we know why Providence still shows on the IHSA website as 2A?

I am sure its just an oversight like it was a few years ago when they listed St. Rita as 2A and didn't wind up changing it until a week or so before Regionals.

You can book it that PC is 3A

In the case of St. Rita when the assignments came out in early December they were shocked when they were assigned to a AA regional. Then depending on which story you want to believe (the paperwork was either lost or never sent in) within 48 hours they were in the Argo AAA regional. I have no reason to doubt the boards go to guy, so if he says PC will be AAA then that is good enough for me.

They got into the 3A regional for O’connor To win 4 titles in 3A.

Then last year went to 2A to win a trophy.

Maybe Providence is goin down to 2A to win a trophy too.?
